The president of India ( IAST: ) is the head of state of the Republic of India. The president is the nominal head of the executive, the first citizen of the country, as well as the commander-in-chief of the Indian Armed Forces. Droupadi Murmu is the 15th and current president, having taken office from 25 July 2022. The office of president was created when India officially became a republic on 26 January 1950 after gaining independence on 15th August 1947, when its constitution came into force. Sarup Singh
Sarup Singh (also Swaroop Singh) (9 January 1917 – 4 August 2003) was an Indian academic turned politician. He remained a faculty member at Kirori Mal College, Delhi, and later became the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Delhi (1971–74). He was member of the Rajya Sabha from Haryana (1978-1984) of Lok Dal party. Girish Chandra 'Gary' Saxena (5 January 1928 – 14 April 2017) was a governor of Jammu and Kashmir state in India. Born in Agra in 1928, he joined the Indian Police Service (IPS) and held many positions in police and retired as Director of the Research and Analysis Wing, India's external intelligence agency. He took over as the head of the State on 2 May 1998 for the second time. Earlier, he held the office of the Governor J&K from 26 May 1990 to 13 March 1993. The governor of Jammu and Kashmir was the head of the Indian state Jammu and Kashmir. When India became independent, Hari Singh was the Maharaja of the Princely State of Jammu and Kashmir. Virendra Verma
Virendra Verma (18 September 1916 – 2 May 2009) was an Indian politician, born in Shamli, Uttar Pradesh. He served as the Governor of Punjab and the Administrator of Chandigarh (1990) as well as the Governor of Himachal Pradesh (1990–1993). Personal life Virendra Verma was educated in J.H. School in Shamli, then DAV/SD High School in Muzaffarnagar and after his graduation attained an L.L.B. in 1943 from Meerut College, Meerut.
