Dutch Television

Humphrey Campbell
Humphrey Campbell (born 26 February 1958) is a Dutch singer and record producer of Surinamese descent, known for his participation in the 1992 Eurovision Song Contest. Early career Campbell moved to the Netherlands in 1973 before Suriname's independence in 1975 and later studied and taught at the Hilversum Conservatorium. He gained experience in musical theatre, working with singers such as Denise Jannah and Madeline Bell. Eurovision Song Contest Campbell took part in the Dutch Eurovision selection in 1992, when his song ''Wijs me de weg'' (English version; ''Open your eyes'') was chosen from 12 entrants as the country's representative in the 37th Eurovision Song Contest, held in Malmö, Sweden on 9 May. Performing last of the 23 entrants and joined on stage by brothers Carlo and Ben, Campbell finished the evening in ninth place. Eurovision Song Contest 1992
The Eurovision Song Contest 1992 was the 37th edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Malmö, Sweden, following the country's victory at the with the song "" by Carola. Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster (SVT), the contest was held at the Malmö Isstadion on 9 May 1992 and was hosted by Swedish journalists Lydia Capolicchio and Harald Treutiger. Twenty-three countries took part in the contest with the returning after being absent the year before. This set another record for the most participating countries in the history of the competition, which would be broken again the following year. The 1992 contest also saw the last participation of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, as they were banned from competing only a few weeks later due to the Yugoslav Wars. Wijs Me De Weg
The Netherlands returned at the Eurovision Song Contest at the Eurovision Song Contest 1992, after withdrawing from the 1991 contest. Their entry was Humphrey Campbell with the song "Wijs me de weg" after he won the Dutch national final, Nationaal Songfestival 1992. At Eurovision, the song came ninth, having received 67 points. Before Eurovision Nationaal Songfestival 1992 Nederlandse Omroep Stichting (NOS), the Dutch national broadcaster, continued to host a national final to select the Dutch entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 1992, held in Malmö, Sweden. Nationaal Songfestival 1992 was held at the NOS TV studios in Hilversum on 29 March 1992, hosted by Bas Westerweel. The winner was chosen by the votes of 12 regional juries, which was Humphrey Campbell with the song "Wijs me de weg", composed by Edwin Schimscheimer. At Eurovision Campbell performed 23rd (last) on the night of the contest, following Germany. "Wijs me de weg" came 9th of 23, receiving 67 points. ...
