Air Charter
Air charter is the business of renting an entire aircraft (i.e., chartering) as opposed to individual aircraft seats (i.e., purchasing a airline ticket, ticket through a traditional airline). Regulation Charter – also called air taxi or ad hoc – flights require certification from the associated country's civil aviation authority. The regulations are differentiated from typical commercial/passenger service by offering a non-scheduled service. Analogous regulations generally also apply to Air medical services, air ambulance and cargo operators, which are often also ad hoc for-hire services. United States In the U.S. these flights are regulated under FAA Part 135. There are some cases where a charter operator can sell scheduled flights, but only in limited quantities. The Republic of Cyprus is a unitary presidential representative republic, whereby the President of Cyprus is both head of state and head of government. Executive power is exercised by the government. Legislative power is vested in both the government and the parliament. The Judiciary is independent of the executive and the legislature. Cyprus has been a divided island since 1974 when Turkey invaded to support Turkish Cypriots in response to a military coup on the island which was backed by the Athens government. Eurocypria Airlines
Eurocypria Airlines Limited was a charter airline with its head office in the Artemis Building in Larnaca, Cyprus, owned by the government of Cyprus, operating mostly chartered flights. Its main base was Larnaca International Airport, with a secondary base at Paphos International Airport. On 4 November 2010 it was announced that the airline would file for bankruptcy and cease all flights by 13 November. All flights were suspended by decision of the Board of Directors on 4 November 2010. History Eurocypria was established on 25 March 1992 as a wholly owned subsidiary of Cyprus Airways, as the first Cyprus based charter airline. Operations began on 12 June 1992 with two new Airbus A320 aircraft. Two more were added later. Since 2001, the airline has operated scheduled services from Cyprus, and charter flights. The Cyprus problem, also known as the Cyprus dispute, Cyprus issue, Cyprus question or Cyprus conflict, is an ongoing dispute between Greek Cypriots in the south and Turkish Cypriots in the north. Alexis Galanos
Alexis Galanos (Greeκ: ΑλÎξης Γαλανός, 30 August 1940 – 15 July 2019) was a Greek Cypriot politician. He was President of the House of Representatives of Cyprus from 1991 to 1996. He studied Economics at King's College, Cambridge and Law at Inner Temple. Political career He was one of the founders of the Democratic Party (DIKO) and served the party from many positions. He was DIKO's Secretary General from 1989 until 1990 and its Vice-President from 1990 until 1996. He was also an elected member of the House of Representatives from 1976 until 1999. In 1991 the majority of the members of the House of Representatives elected him as President. In 1998, he announced his decision to resign as a member of DIKO because he disagreed with Spyros Kyprianou's decision to support Giorgos Iakovou in the 1998 presidential election and in 1999 he resigned as a member of the House of Representatives as well.
