American Football
American football (referred to simply as football in the United States and Canada), also known as gridiron, is a team sport played by two teams of eleven players on a rectangular field with goalposts at each end. The offense, the team with possession of the oval-shaped football, attempts to advance down the field by running with the ball or passing it, while the defense, the team without possession of the ball, aims to stop the offense's advance and to take control of the ball for themselves. The offense must advance at least ten yards in four downs or plays; if they fail, they turn over the football to the defense, but if they succeed, they are given a new set of four downs to continue the drive. Points are scored primarily by advancing the ball into the opposing team's end zone for a touchdown or kicking the ball through the opponent's goalposts for a field goal. Reggie Barnes (linebacker)
Reginald Keith "Reggie" Barnes (born October 23, 1969) is a former American football linebacker in the National Football League for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Dallas Cowboys. He played college football at the University of Oklahoma. Early years Barnes attended South Grand Prairie High School. He accepted a football scholarship from the University of Oklahoma. As a freshman, he was a reserve linebacker and tallied 33 tackles. As a sophomore, he was switched from outside linebacker to defensive end, registering 43 tackles. As a junior, he became a full-time starter at defensive end, recording 73 tackles and 9 sacks. As a senior, he started in 9 games, posting 46 tackles and 7 sacks. Jaime Mendez (American Football)
Jaime Mendez (born February 20, 1971) is a former American collegiate football free safety, who was an all-American at Kansas State University. He is the Wildcats' all-time career leader in interceptions with 15. High school Mendez was an all-state selection at Cardinal Mooney, the same school that produced former Wildcat co-defensive coordinator Bob Stoops and former defensive ends coach Mike Stoops. Greg Biekert
Gregory Biekert (born March 14, 1969) is an American football coach and former linebacker. Biekert attended Longs Peak Middle School and Longmont High School in Longmont, Colorado, where he lettered in football. He was a standout linebacker for the Colorado Buffaloes. After college, he was drafted by the then L.A. Raiders in the seventh round of the 1993 NFL Draft and played in 144 games with 123 starts. He led the Raiders in tackles for six seasons, including four straight years (1998–2001). Keith Bernard Burns (born May 16, 1972) is an American football coach and former professional linebacker and special teams player. He was formerly the Special Teams coordinator for the Washington Redskins of the National Football League. Early life and high school Burns was born in Greeleyville, South Carolina. Rick Lyle (born February 26, 1971) is a former American football defensive end who played for four teams in a 9-year National Football League (NFL) career.
