1991–92 Orlando Magic Season
The 1991–92 NBA season was the Magic's 3rd season in the National Basketball Association. Orlando hosted the 1992 NBA All-Star Game and All-star weekend, where Nick Anderson participated in the Slam Dunk Contest (losing in the semi-final round). During the offseason, the Magic signed free agent Anthony Bowie. Finally returning to the Eastern Conference and settling into the Atlantic Division, the Magic had a disappointing third season. After winning their first three games leading them to a 6–8 start, the team suffered a winless month in December losing all 15 games, plus a 17-game losing streak in early January. Second-year star Dennis Scott played just 18 games due to a leg injury, while leading scorer Nick Anderson, who averaged 19.9 points per game missed 22 games. Matt Guokas
Matthew George Guokas Jr. (; born February 25, 1944) is an American former professional basketball player and coach. His father, Matt Sr. and uncle, Al, have also played in the NBA. Guokas and his father, Matt Sr., were the first father-son duo to both win NBA championships as players; this feat has since been repeated by the Barrys (Rick and Brent), the Waltons (Bill and Luke), the Thompsons ( Mychal and Klay), and the Paytons (Gary Payton and Gary Payton II). Dennis Eugene Scott Jr. (born September 5, 1968) is an American former professional basketball player. A small forward from Georgia Tech, and the 1990 ACC Men's Basketball Player of the Year, Scott was selected by the Orlando Magic with the fourth pick of the 1990 NBA draft after being the leading scorer on a Yellow Jackets team that made the Final Four, and comprising one portion of Georgia Tech's "Lethal Weapon 3" attack featuring Scott, Kenny Anderson and Brian Oliver. 1991–92 Atlanta Hawks Season
The 1991–92 NBA season was the Hawks' 43rd season in the National Basketball Association, and 24th season in Atlanta. The Hawks had the ninth pick in the 1991 NBA draft, and selected Stacey Augmon out of UNLV. During the off-season, the team acquired All-Star guard Maurice Cheeks from the New York Knicks, acquired second-year guard Travis Mays from the Sacramento Kings, and acquired Blair Rasmussen from the Denver Nuggets. However, Mays only played just two games due to two ruptured tendons in his right ankle. The Hawks got off to an 8–8 start and played .500 basketball for the first half of the season, holding a 24–23 record at the All-Star break. However, with a 22–20 record as of January 28, Dominique Wilkins ruptured his Achilles tendon and was out for the remainder of the season after playing just 42 games, averaging 28.1 points and 7.0 rebounds per game. Brian Hill (basketball)
Brian Alfred Hill (born September 19, 1947) is an American former professional basketball coach. Early life Born in East Orange, New Jersey, Hill graduated from Our Lady of the Valley High School in Orange, New Jersey in 1965 and John F. Kennedy College in Nebraska in 1969 with a degree in physical education. Hill was a three-year starter on the Kennedy basketball team. Coaching career In 1970, Hill began his coaching career as head coach at Clifford Scott High School in his native East Orange, New Jersey. Hill then was an assistant coach at Montclair State University#Athletics, Montclair State College from 1972 to 1974. John Gabriel is the Executive Advisor for the Orlando Magic of the National Basketball Association. He is known for his time as general manager with the Orlando Magic, who reached the NBA Playoffs 5 times during his tenure. Bison Dele ( ; born Brian Carson Williams; April 6, 1969 – July 7, 2002) was an American professional basketball player who played center for the NBA's Orlando Magic, Denver Nuggets, Los Angeles Clippers, Chicago Bulls and Detroit Pistons. The 1992–93 NBA season was the Clippers' 23rd season in the National Basketball Association, and their 9th season in Los Angeles. In the 1992 NBA Draft, the Clippers selected Randy Woods out of La Salle University with the sixteenth overall pick, and selected Elmore Spencer out of UNLV with the 25th overall pick. In the off-season, the team acquired Mark Jackson from the New York Knicks, acquired second-year center Stanley Roberts from the Orlando Magic in a three-team trade, acquired Hot Plate Williams from the Washington Bullets, and signed free agent Kiki Vandeweghe. Stanley Corvet Roberts (born February 7, 1970) is an American former professional basketball player who played center. He was said to have the potential to be the best center of all time. Early life Roberts attended Lower Richland High School in Hopkins, where he led his team to two straight state championships, was a Parade first-team All-American his senior year, and considered a top five player nationally, holding his own against Alonzo Mourning in the Dapper Dan and McDonald's All-Star Games.
