1991–92 Minnesota Timberwolves Season
The 1991–92 NBA season was the Timberwolves' 3rd season in the National Basketball Association. The Timberwolves had the seventh pick in the 1991 NBA draft, and selected Australian center Luc Longley from the University of New Mexico. Under new head coach Jimmy Rodgers, the Timberwolves began their season amidst a blizzard when a one-day record of snow fell as they lost to the Utah Jazz 112–97 on November 1. Early into the season, the team traded Tyrone Corbin to the Jazz in exchange for Thurl Bailey, as they continued to get worse with an awful 8–38 start around the All-Star Break. Jimmy Rodgers (basketball)
James Donald Rodgers (born March 12, 1943) is an American former basketball coach and team executive. Life and career Rodgers was born and raised in Franklin Park, Illinois, a Chicago suburb. An all-state player as a high school player in Illinois, Rodgers went on to play for Iowa, where he was a three-year starter on the Hawkeyes basketball team. Originally planning to go into dentistry, Rodgers, who was a pre-dental major, decided to go into coaching. After graduation, he was hired as an assistant by Bill Fitch, then the head coach for the University of North Dakota basketball team, whose team featured All-America center Phil Jackson. Jim Brewer (basketball)
James Turner Brewer (born December 3, 1951) is an American former National Basketball Association (NBA) player. Brewer was the first notable player to come out of Proviso East High School, which has one of the most successful high school basketball programs in Illinois. In 1969, Brewer, playing center, led his team to the first of four state championships. Brewer was followed at Proviso East by other future NBA players, notably Doc Rivers, Michael Finley, Dee Brown, Shannon Brown, Sterling Brown, and JeVon Carter. The 6'9" 210-pound forward then attended the University of Minnesota. One of his teammates was future Baseball Hall-of-Famer Dave Winfield. 1992–93 Indiana Pacers Season
The 1992–93 NBA season was the Pacers' 17th season in the National Basketball Association, and 26th season as a franchise. In the off-season, the Pacers acquired Pooh Richardson and Sam Mitchell from the Minnesota Timberwolves. The team played mediocre basketball once again, losing six straight games between December and January after a 13–10 start, then went on a 7-game losing streak in February, and held a 23–28 record at the All-Star break. However, they would recover and play above .500 for the remainder of the season. Sam Mitchell (basketball)
Samuel E. Mitchell Jr. (born September 2, 1963) is an American former professional basketball player and coach. Playing at small forward, Mitchell's 18-year professional basketball career spanned three decades, and was most notable for his ten seasons with the Minnesota Timberwolves (NBA), whom he also coached as an interim for the 2015-16 season. Mitchell coached for the Toronto Raptors 2004 to 2008 as well, winning Coach of the Year Award in 2007. Jerome "Pooh" Richardson Jr. (born May 14, 1966) is an American former basketball player who played 10 seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was selected in the first round of the 1989 NBA draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves, the first draft pick in franchise history. He would also play for the Indiana Pacers and Los Angeles Clippers during his 10-year NBA career from 1989 to 1999. Richardson played college basketball for the UCLA Bruins from 1985 to 1989. The 1992–93 New York Knicks season was the 47th season for the Knicks in the National Basketball Association (NBA). During the off-season, the Knicks acquired Charles D. Smith, Doc Rivers and Bo Kimble from the Los Angeles Clippers, acquired All-Star guard Rolando Blackman from the Dallas Mavericks, Tony Campbell from the Minnesota Timberwolves, and later signed free agent Herb Williams in November. For the season, the Knicks changed their primary logo, adding a silver triangle behind a redesigned text of the word "Knicks" and an orange basketball. Tony Campbell
Anthony Campbell (born May 7, 1962) is an American former professional National Basketball Association (NBA) player. Campbell played prep basketball at Teaneck High School in Teaneck, New Jersey, graduating in 1980. A 6'7" small forward out of Ohio State University, Campbell was selected 20th overall by the Detroit Pistons in the 1984 NBA draft. He was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers in 1987. Campbell became the first player to earn an NBA ring ( 1987–88 Lakers) and CBA ring (Albany Patroons) in the same season. Campbell struggled for playing time during his stint in Los Angeles.
