The North American Nations Cup was the association football (soccer) championship for the CONCACAF's North American Football Union, North American Zone. Overview The tournament was seen as a disappointment, with promoters complaining that the Mexico Football Federation's decision to send their first choice team to play against Argentina national football team, Argentina in Buenos Aires had a severe effect on attendances. Promoter ''ProLinks Vice-President Fred Guzman commented that "We're disappointed because we expected Mexico's fans to carry the tournament. But where were the U.S. fans? The United States Soccer Federation, U.S. federation has to create a situation where people rally around the national team." Bruce Murray (soccer)
Bruce Edward Murray (born January 25, 1966) is an American former professional soccer player who at the time of his retirement was the all-time leading scorer for the U.S. National Team. His standout college career led to his selection by Soccer America Magazine to its College Team of the Century. He then played professionally in both Europe and the United States, including the American Soccer League and American Professional Soccer League. Concussion syndrome forced him to retire in 1995, Murray had earned 86 caps, scoring 21 goals, including one at the 1990 FIFA World Cup. He was also a member of the U.S. national futsal team which placed third at the 1989 FIFA Futsal World Championship. Murray is the Direct of Coaching at Accelerator School DC Metro. Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum
The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum (also known as the L.A. Coliseum) is a multi-purpose stadium in the Exposition Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. NAFC Championship
The North American Nations Cup and NAFC Championship were association football tournaments for teams in the area of North America. In 1947 and 1949, the NAFC Championship was organized by the North American Football Confederation. Cuba, Mexico, and the United States participated in both editions of the tournament. NAFC merged with the Confederación Centroamericana y del Caribe de Fútbol, CCCF to form CONCACAF in 1961. After a 41-year absence, another North American championship was organized by the North American Football Union. The North American Nations Cup was contested in 1990 and 1991 by Canada, Mexico, and the United States before the introduction of the CONCACAF Gold Cup. Murdock Stadium
Featherstone Field, previously known as Murdock Stadium is a stadium on the campus of El Camino College in Torrance, California. Built in 1958 the stadium seats around 12,127 on wood-backed bleacher seats. It was home to the North American Soccer League's Los Angeles Aztecs for two years (1975–1976), the American Soccer League's Southern California Lazers for a single season in 1978, as well as several United States men's national soccer team FIFA World Cup qualification matches. Today, it hosts El Camino College's American football team. The stadium was originally named after the founding president of the college, Forrest G. Murdock. The stadium was also used as the main stadium in the 2005 remake of the 1974 film, '' The Longest Yard''. Rodolfo Martínez Estrada (born 24 August 1948) is a Mexican former professional boxer. He is a former NABF super bantamweight, bantamweight and the WBC bantamweight champion. Early life Martínez was born on August 28, 1946, and raised in Tepito, a borough of Mexico City. He is the eldest of six children of Alfonso Martínez and Angelina Estrada. Professional career In June 1972, Rodolfo Martínez won his first NABF Championship by Knocking out Octavio Gomez.
