1991 European Ladies' Team Championship
The 1991 European Ladies' Team Championship took place 10–14 July at Wentworth Club in Virginia Water, Surrey, England, United Kingdom. It was the 17th women's golf amateur European Ladies' Team Championship. Venue The hosting Wentworth Club was founded in 1922. Its West Course, situated in Virginia Water, Surrey, 40 kilometres south-west of the city center of London, England, not far from Windsor Castle, opened in 1926 and was designed by golf course architect Harry Colt. It had previously hosted some of the most prestigious tournaments in the world, the 1953 Ryder Cup, the 1956 Canada Cup and several editions of the World Match Play Championship and the BMW PGA Championship. Virginia Water
Virginia Water is a commuter village in the Borough of Runnymede in northern Surrey, England. It is home to the Wentworth Estate and the Wentworth Club. The area has much woodland and occupies a large minority of the Runnymede district. Its name is shared with the lake on its western boundary within Windsor Great Park. Delphine Bourson
Delphine Bourson-Drossaert (born 26 April 1969) is a French golfer. She won the European Ladies Amateur in 1991. Amateur career Bourson won the 1990 Spanish International Ladies Amateur Championship at El Bosque. At the European Ladies Amateur, Bourson lost a playoff to Florence Descampe of Belgium in 1988, and won the event in 1991, three strokes ahead of Mette Hageman of the Netherlands. Bourson was a member of the winning French team, with Cécilia Mourgue d'Algue, Caroline Bourtayre, Sophie Louapre, Sandrine Mendiburu and Valérie Pamard, at the 1989 European Ladies' Team Championship in Pals, Spain. Bourson represented France at the Espirito Santo Trophy with Kristel Mourgue d'Algue twice. In 1990 with Sandrine Mendiburu they finished 6th, and in 1992 with Patricia Meunier-Lebouc they finished 5th. BMW PGA Championship
The BMW PGA Championship is an annual men's professional golf tournament on the European Tour. It was founded in 1955 by the Professional Golfers' Association, and originally called the British PGA Championship. History The BMW PGA Championship has usually been played each May, on the weekend of the UK's Spring Bank Holiday, over the West Course at the Wentworth Club in Surrey, England. WGC Match Play
The WGC Match Play, currently titled as the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play for sponsorship reasons, is a professional men's golf tournament that has been held since 1999. It is the only one of the World Golf Championships to have been contested using the match play format. Since 2016, it has been held at the Austin Country Club in Austin, Texas, United States. Previous names include WGC-Dell Match Play (2015), WGC-Cadillac Match Play (2014), WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship (2001–2013), and WGC-Andersen Consulting Match Play Championship (1999–2000). Before moving to Austin it had been hosted in Arizona eight times, California eight times, and Australia once. It is sanctioned and organized by the International Federation of PGA Tours and the prize money is official money on the PGA Tour, the European Tour and the Japan Golf Tour. 1956 Canada Cup
The 1956 Canada Cup took place 24–26 June on the West Course at the Wentworth Club in Virginia Water, Surrey, England. It was the fourth Canada Cup event, which became the World Cup in 1967. The tournament was a 72-hole stroke play team event with 29 teams. The Scandinavian team that had competed in 1954 and 1955 was replaced by teams from Denmark and Sweden, while there were new teams from Chinese Taipei, Portugal and South Korea. Each team consisted of two players from a country. The combined score of each team determined the team results. 18 holes were played on the first two days with 36 holes played on the final day. Because of the time taken to play each round, a cut was introduced after the second day, with only the leading 20 teams competing on the final day. An 18-hole consolation event was held for the remaining 9 teams. There was provision for an individual in one of these 9 teams to complete the 72 holes if they were well-placed after the second day.
