1990–91 QMJHL Season
The 1990–91 QMJHL season was the 22nd season in the history of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. The league inaugurates the St-Clair Group Plaque, awarded to the "Marketing Director of the Year." Dilio and Lebel divisions are restored as the league adds an expansion franchise in Beauport, Quebec, a suburb of the provincial capital. Twelve teams played 70 games each in the schedule. The Chicoutimi Saguenéens finished first overall in the regular season, winning their first Jean Rougeau Trophy, backstopped by Goaltender of the Year and Playoff MVP, Felix Potvin. Season (sports)
In an organized sports league, a typical season is the portion of one year in which regulated games of the sport are in session: for example, in Major League Baseball the season lasts approximately from the last week of March to the last week of September. Saint-Hyacinthe Laser
The Saint-Hyacinthe Laser were a junior ice hockey team in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League from 1989 to 1996. They played their home games at Stade L.P. Gaucher in Saint-Hyacinthe, Quebec, Canada. History The Saint-Hyacinthe Laser were born in 1989 after the Verdun Junior Canadiens were bought and moved to the city of Saint-Hyacinthe, Quebec. The team played for seven years before moving to Rouyn-Noranda. In the third year of operation, general manager Claude Lemieux was named Executive of the Year (John Horman Trophy). He rebuilt the Verdun Junior Canadiens team that struggled in last place in the QMJHL for three seasons into a club with a winning record, and was awarded for many individual achievements in the next few years. Martin Lefebvre
Martin Lefebvre (born June 23, 1992) is a Canadian ice hockey defenceman who currently represents the Porin Ässät of the SM-liiga. Lefebvre has previously represented the Krefield Pinguine of the DEL, Aalborg Pirates of the Metal Ligaen and Stavanger Oilers of the Fjordkraftligaen. His achievements in said teams include Danish Championship, Danish Cup Championship, Danish League All-Star Team selection, two Norwegian Championships and Fjordjraftligaen Player of the Year award. Paul Brousseau
Paul M. Brousseau (born September 18, 1973) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey forward. He played for the Colorado Avalanche, Tampa Bay Lightning, and Florida Panthers in the National Hockey League, NHL. Playing career Brousseau was selected in the second round of the 1992 NHL Entry Draft, 28th overall, by the Quebec Nordiques. Sylvain Fleury (born April 30, 1970) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. He was selected by the New York Islanders in the 8th round (153rd overall) of the 1990 NHL Entry Draft. Martin Lapointe
Martin T. Lapointe (born September 12, 1973) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. He played in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Detroit Red Wings, Boston Bruins, Chicago Blackhawks, and Ottawa Senators. He is best known for winning the Stanley Cup as a member of the Red Wings in both 1997 and 1998. He is currently the director of player development for the Montreal Canadiens. Playing career Lapointe was selected 10th overall by the Detroit Red Wings in the 1991 NHL Entry Draft. Denis Chassé
Denis Chassé (born February 7, 1970) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. He played in the NHL for the St. Louis Blues, Washington Capitals, Winnipeg Jets and Ottawa Senators. He played right wing and shot right-handed. Playing career As a youth, Chassé played in the 1983 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with a minor ice hockey team from Mercier, Quebec. Chassé began his career playing in the QMJHL. While there he established himself as a high scoring forward as well as a rugged enforcer. In his final year in the QMJHL he scored 101 points in 62 games in addition to logging 246 penalty minutes. Chassé signed as a free agent with the Quebec Nordiques in 1991. From there he reported to the Halifax Citadels of the AHL. He played two solid years with the Citadels, scoring 61 and 76 points respectively. Denis Chalifoux is a retired professional ice hockey player, most notably with the Springfield Indians of the American Hockey League and the Laval Chiefs of the Ligue Nord-Américaine de Hockey (LNAH).
