1990–91 Greek Football Cup
The 1990–91 Greek Football Cup was the 49th edition of the Greek Football Cup. Tournament details Totally 72 teams participated, 18 from Alpha Ethniki, 18 from Beta, and 36 from Gamma. It was held in 6 rounds, included final. After the Group stage, there were interesting confrontations and many "protagonists" were eliminated by the competition continue. In the Second round, Olympiacos were eliminated by PAOK , Aris by Athinaikos and Iraklis by Xanthi, while in the Third round AEK Athens were eliminated by OFI. In the same round, Edessaikos, a Beta Ethniki team, reversed their loss 4–0 by Ionikos, achieving a draw with the same score in the second leg, in order however to be eliminated in penalty shootout. The Final was contested by Panathinaikos, for sixth time in the last 10 years, after the qualify against PAOK in semi-finals, and neophyte in Alpha Ethniki Athinaikos, for first and unique until now time in their history. Nikos Sarganis (Greek language, Greek: Νίκος Σαργκάνης; born 13 January 1954) is a Greek former professional Association football, footballer who played as a Goalkeeper (association football), goalkeeper. Career Born in Rafina, Attica, Sarganis started his football career as a fullback at Ilisiakos F.C., Ilisiakos. He switched to goalkeeper under the guidance of his coach, Christos Rimbas, himself a capable goalkeeper of the 1930s. Sarganis moved on to Kastoria FC in 1977 and played for the "furriers" until the end of the 1980 season. He was part of the team that shocked the Greek football world by winning the Greek Football Cup, Greek Cup in 1980. Following that triumph, he transferred to Olympiakos FC, Olympiakos where he would play from 1980 until the end of the 1985 season. Vyronas ( el, Βύρωνας) is a suburban town and a municipality in the southeastern part of the Athens agglomeration, Greece. The town is named after George Gordon Byron, 6th Baron Byron, the famous English poet and writer, who is a national hero of Greece. Formerly part of the municipality of Athens, Vyronas was created as a community in 1933, and became a municipality in 1934. The municipality has an area of 9.204 km2. Apostolos Nikolaidis Stadium ( el, Γήπεδο Απόστολος Νικολαΐδης), commonly known as Leoforos Alexandras Stadium or Leoforos Stadium, is a football stadium and multi-sport center in Athens, Greece.
