1990–91 Asia Cup
The 1990–91 Asia Cup was the fourth Asia Cup tournament, and was held in India between 25 December 1990, and 4 January 1991. Three teams took part in the tournament: India, Sri Lanka and Asian leading associate member Bangladesh. Pakistan had pulled out of the tournament due to strained political relations with India. The 1990–91 Asia Cup was a round-robin tournament where each team played the other once, and the top two teams qualifying for a place in the final. India and Sri Lanka qualified for the final in which India beat Sri Lanka by 7 wickets to win its second consecutive (and third in total) Asia Cup. Asian Cricket Council
The Asian Cricket Council also known as ACC is a cricket organisation which was established in 1983, to promote and develop the sport of cricket in Asia. Subordinate to the International Cricket Council, the council is the continent's regional administrative body, and currently consists of 26 member associations. Jay Shah is the current president of Asian Cricket Council. History The council was formed as the Asian Cricket Conference in New Delhi, India, on 19 September 1983, with the original members being Bangladesh, India, Malaysia, Pakistan, Singapore, and Sri Lanka. Changing its name to the present in 1995. Until 2003, the headquarters of the council were rotated biennially amongst the presidents' and secretaries' home countries. The organisation's current president is Jay Shah, who is also the Secretary of the BCCI. Wicket-keeper
The wicket-keeper in the sport of cricket is the player on the fielding side who stands behind the wicket or stumps being watchful of the batsman and ready to take a catch, stump the batsman out and run out a batsman when occasion arises. The wicket-keeper is the only member of the fielding side permitted to wear gloves and external leg guards. The role of the keeper is governed by Law 27 of the Laws of Cricket. Stance Initially, during the bowling of the ball the wicket-keeper crouches in a full squatting position but partly stands up as the ball is received. Akram Khan (cricketer)
Mohammad Akram Hussain Khan ( bn, মোহাম্মদ আকরাম হুসেইন খান; born 1 November 1968) is a former Bangladeshi cricketer. A hard hitting middle order batsman, Akram played first-class cricket for Chittagong Division. He is currently the chief selector of the BCB, along with Habibul Bashar and Minhajul Abedin. Akram Khan was part of Bangladesh's inaugural Test match, in 2000–01 against India. He had been playing One Day International cricket since 1988. Roshan Mahanama
Deshabandu Roshan Siriwardene Mahanama ( si, රොෂාන් මහානාම; born 31 May 1966) is a former Sri Lankan cricketer and a former ICC match referee. He was a key member for 1996 Cricket World Cup winning team for Sri Lanka. He is the first man to have stood as a match referee in a day-night test match in Test history. In September 2015, Mahanama said that he would step down from the ICC match referee panel at the end of the year; he will spend his time with his family and his businesses. Athar Ali Khan
Athar Ali Khan ( bn, আতহার আলী খান; born 10 February 1962) is a Bangladeshi cricket commentator and former cricketer. Throughout the 1980s, Athar played as a middle order batsman, batting mostly at No. 4 or 5. Later on, encouraged by the Indian Test Cricketer, Mohinder Amarnath, Atahar started opening regularly for the Bangladesh national cricket team. Aravinda De Silva
Deshabandu Pinnaduwage Aravinda de Silva ( si, අරවින්ද ද සිල්වා; born 17 October 1965) is a former Sri Lankan cricketer and captain, who has also played in English county cricket. de Silva helped Sri Lanka to win the 1996 Cricket World Cup and brought Sri Lanka from underdog status to present-day form. Faruque Ahmed ( bn, ফারুক আহমেদ; born 24 July 1966), also known as Faruk Ahmed, is a former Bangladeshi cricketer who played in 7 ODIs from 1988 to 1999. Deshabandu Asanka Pradeep Gurusinha (born 16 September 1966) is a Sri Lankan Australian former international cricketer who had an 11-year international career, playing 41 Tests and 147 One Day Internationals for Sri Lanka. Sanjay Vijay Manjrekar (born 12 July 1965) is an Indian cricket commentator and former cricketer. He played international cricket for India from 1987 until 1996 as a right-handed middle order batsman. Domestic career Manjrekar was born in Mangalore, in what was previously known Mysore State (present-day Karnataka) in southern India in Marathi family, on 12 July 1965, the son of Vijay Manjrekar, who made 55 Test match appearances for India between 1952 and 1965. Nurul Abedin
Nurul Abedin Nobel ( bn, নুরুল আবেদীন নোবেল; born 7 September 1964) is a former Bangladeshi cricketer, who played in four One Day Internationals from 1986 to 1990. Nurul Abedin was the elder brother of Minhajul Abedin (Nannu). Originally from Chittagong, the brothers were prominent figures in Dhaka cricket, in the 80's and 90's. In the international arena, Nobel was in and out of the national side. Though no less gifted than his brother, he had to suffer for the whims of the selectors.
