1990 U.S. Women's Open
The 1990 U.S. Women's Open was the 45th U.S. Women's Open, held July 12–15 at the Riverside Course of Atlanta Athletic Club in Johns Creek, Georgia, a suburb northeast of Atlanta. Defending champion Betsy King became the fifth of seven to win consecutive titles, one stroke ahead of runner-up Patty Sheehan, the leader after each of the first three rounds. Rains delayed the completion of each of the first two rounds until the following day; the final two rounds were played on Sunday. Johns Creek, Georgia
Johns Creek is a city in Fulton County, Georgia, United States. According to the 2020 census, the population was 82,453. The city is a northeastern suburb of Atlanta. History In the early 19th century, the Johns Creek area was dotted with trading posts along the Chattahoochee River in what was then Cherokee territory. The Cherokee nation at the time was a confederacy of agrarian villages led by a chief. However, after Europeans colonized the area, the Cherokee developed an alphabet, and a legislature and judiciary system patterned after the American model. Some trading posts gradually became crossroads communities where pioneer families – Rogers, McGinnis, Findley, Buice, Cowart, Medlock and others – gathered to visit and sell their crops. Cathy Gerring
Cathy Kratzert Gerring (born April 28, 1961) is an American professional golfer who played on the LPGA Tour. Born Cathy Kratzert, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, she played college golf at Ohio State University. Gerring won three times on the LPGA Tour, all in 1990. She played on the 1990 Solheim Cup team. In April 1992, Gerring was severely burned in a hospitality tent at the LPGA's Sara Lee Classic in Nashville, Tennessee. Due to her injuries, she did not play again on the LPGA Tour until 1996. Gerring's brother, Billy Kratzert, won four times on the PGA Tour. They are one of only two brother/sister pairs to win on both tours (the other is Jim Gallagher Jr. and Jackie Gallagher-Smith). Danielle Ammaccapane (born November 27, 1965) is an American professional golfer playing on the LPGA Tour. Her daughter, with husband Rod Kesling, is child actor Laura Ann Kesling. Amateur career Ammaccapane was born in Babylon, New York. She had a successful junior and amateur career and won the U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links in 1985. Hollis Stacy (born March 16, 1954) is an American professional golfer. She became a member of the LPGA Tour in 1974, winning four major championships and 18 LPGA Tour events. Rosie Jones (born November 13, 1959) is an American professional golfer, with 13 LPGA Tour career victories and nearly $8.4 million in tournament earnings.
