1990 Scotland Rugby Union Tour Of New Zealand
The 1990 Scotland rugby union tour of New Zealand involved eight rugby union matches played between 30 May and 23 June by the Scotland national rugby union team in New Zealand. It was the third tour of New Zealand by Scotland who won five matches and drew one, but lost the two test matches against the All Blacks. David Sole
David Michael Barclay Sole (born 8 May 1962) is a former Scotland international rugby union player. He was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 1993 New Year Honours. Rugby Union career Amateur career He was educated at Blairmore prep school and Glenalmond College, a private school in Perthshire. He went to Exeter University and played for their rugby side. He played for Bath and then moved to play for Edinburgh Academicals. Provincial career He played for Scottish Exiles (then Anglo-Scots) in the Scottish Inter-District Championship. When he moved to play for Edinburgh Academicals, he then turned out for Edinburgh District. International career While still with Exeter University rugby club he was capped by Scotland 'B'. Rugby Park Stadium
Rugby Park is a sports venue in Invercargill and the home ground for the Mitre 10 Cup and Southland. Rugby Park is located on the corner of Elles Road and Tweed Street. The ground has a regular season capacity of 18,000. It has a safe temporary seating maximum capacity of 20,000 (although it can accommodate up to 30,000 with pitch seating, large grass banks and concreted standing terraces). An agreement with the Invercargill City Council saw surplus land on the ground used to build the city's new Swimming Complex. The pitch was moved geographically towards the main stand, squared off to Rugby field dimensions (originally a quasi-cricket ground), with all weather seating installed. Iwan Tukalo
Iwan Tukalo (born 5 March 1961) is a former Scotland international rugby union player. His regular playing position was Wing. Rugby Union career Amateur career The son of a Ukrainian father and Italian mother, Tukalo was educated at the Royal High School, Edinburgh He went on to play for Royal HSFP. Tukalo then moved to play for Selkirk. Provincial career Tukalo played for Edinburgh District in the Scottish Inter-District Championship. On moving to Selkirk, Tukalo then played for South of Scotland. Tukalo played for the Whites Trial side on 7 January 1984. The following year Tukalo moved up in contention and played for the Blues Trial side in their first match against the Reds Trial side. Anthony George Stanger (born 14 May 1968) is a Scottish former international rugby union player. With 24 international tries, he was Scotland's joint record try scorer, along with Ian Smith, until that record was broken by Stuart Hogg in November 2021. Alex Moore (rugby Union)
Alex Moore (born 19 August 1963) is a former Scotland international rugby union player. He won five caps playing on the wing. Rugby Union career Amateur career Moore was born in Ipswich, Queensland, Australia. He played at Livingston RFC for three seasons, followed by three seasons at Gala RFC. He played sevens too, helping Gala to lift the Jedforest trophy in 1985. After this he joined Edinburgh Academicals. Provincial career While with Gala, he played for South of Scotland District. Gavin Hastings
Andrew Gavin Hastings, (born 3 January 1962) is a Scottish former rugby union player. A fullback, he is widely regarded to be one of the best ever Scottish rugby players and was one of the outstanding players of his generation, winning 61 caps for Scotland, 20 of which as captain. He played for Watsonians, London Scottish, Cambridge University, Scotland and the British Lions. Provincial career Dods was capped by South of Scotland. He played for the Reds Trial side in their match against Blues Trial on 3 January 1987. Derrick Grant (born 19 April 1938) is a former international rugby union player. Grant was capped fourteen times as a flanker for between 1965 and 1968. Sir Ian Robert McGeechan, OBE (born 30 October 1946) is a retired Scottish rugby union player, coach and teacher. Born in Leeds, McGeechan represented Headingley as his only club during a 15-year club career, qualifying for Scotland through his father he played 32 times internationally for Scotland over 7 years and won 8 caps on two tours for the British & Irish Lions. During his playing career he worked as a teacher.
