1990 NCAA Division III Football Season
The 1990 NCAA Division III football season, part of the college football season organized by the NCAA at the Division III level in the United States, began in August 1990, and concluded with the NCAA Division III Football Championship, also known as the Stagg Bowl, in December 1990 at Hawkins Stadium in Bradenton, Florida. The Allegheny Gators won their first Division III championship by defeating the Lycoming Warriors, 21−14, in overtime. Hawkins Stadium
Manatee High School is the oldest public high school in Bradenton, Florida, operated by the Manatee County School District. History Bradentown High School would open in 1897 located on what is now 15th Street West and Ballard Park Drive operating out of a wooden two-story building. A brick building which served as its replacement to the original building would be built in 1912. The original building became the Bradentown Intermediate School serving students from 3rd to 6th grade until closing in 1923 when a replacement was built for the intermediate school was built. After the new intermediate school was built it would be bought by Bradenton's municipal government and demolished. Sometime prior to 1915 students who lived in nearby Palmetto would start attending the school and it became known as Manatee County High School. The DePauw Tigers football team is the American football program for DePauw University, which began in 1884. DePauw has the 20th most victories in Division III history. The Tigers have been the co-champions of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference four times (2000, 2005, 2009 and 2010). In addition, they won two championships (1990, 1996) during their membership in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference and five titles (1928, 1930, 1931, 1933 and 1943) in the Indiana Intercollegiate Conference. Carnegie Mellon Tartans Football
The Carnegie Mellon Tartans football team represents Carnegie Mellon University in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III competition. History On November 28, 1926, the 6–2 Carnegie Tech football team shut out Knute Rockne's undefeated Notre Dame Fighting Irish 19–0 at Forbes Field. It was the only loss for the Irish that season and only the second time they allowed a touchdown. The game was ranked the fourth-greatest upset in college football history by ESPN. Bowl game and AP rankings In the 1930s, Carnegie Tech (as it was known then) was among the top college football programs in the country. In 1938 and 1939, the team achieved national rankings in the AP Poll. The University Athletic Association (UAA) is an American athletic conference that competes in the National Collegiate Athletic Association's (NCAA) Division III. The Washington & Jefferson Presidents football team represents Washington & Jefferson College in collegiate level football. The Emory & Henry Wasps (also E&H Wasps) are the athletic teams that represent Emory & Henry College, located in Emory, Virginia, in NCAA Division II intercollegiate sports.
