1990 Mass Uprising In Bangladesh
The 1990 mass uprising was a democratic movement that took place on 4 December and led to the fall of General Hussain Muhammad Ershad in Bangladesh. The uprising was the result of a series of popular protests that started from 10 October 1990 to topple General Ershad who came to power in 1982 by imposing martial law and replaced a democratically elected President through a bloodless coup. The uprising is marked as the starting point of parliamentary democracy in Bangladesh after nine years of military rule and paved the way for a credible election in 1991. Bangladesh Nationalist Party led 7-party alliance, Bangladesh Awami League led 8-party alliance and Leftist 5-party alliance was instrumental in staging the uprising against Ershad. Shamsul Alam Khan Milon
Shamsul Alam Khan Milon ( bn, শামসুল আলম খান মিলন), commonly known as ''Shaheed Dr. Milon,'' was a Bangladeshi physician and political activist. He was killed on November 27, 1990 allegedly by cadres of the then military ruler Hussain Muhammad Ershad. Early life and education Milon was born on August 21, 1957 at Dhaka. He passed SSC in 1973 and HSC in 1975 from Notre Dame College, Dhaka. Then he was enrolled in Dhaka Medical College to study Medicine. He passed MBBS in 1983. He completed M.Phil in Biochemistry in 1988. Career Milon joined at Department of Physiology & Biochemistry in Dhaka Medical College as lecturer. He had been serving at that post till his death. Teacher-Student Centre of the University of Dhaka is a building on the Dhaka University campus in Shahbagh, Dhaka, Bangladesh. The centre was established in 1961 by the Dhaka University by the Division of Public Affairs. History The construction of the Teacher-Student Centre was financed by the Pakistan Government and the Ford foundation. Gulistan, Dhaka
Gulistan is a very busy street in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It means 'Flower Garden' in Persian, which lead to the speculation that in medieval times there might be prominent flower gardens. Several important streets are connected to Gulistan which makes it busy and crowded. The street is full of roadside shops. Thousands of people visit this place for their daily needs. The road is always occupied with traffic and passersby. One of the oldest transports of Dhaka City ‘Tom Tom’ can be seen in this street. There is a shrine right at the middle of the road. Naziruddin Jehad
Najiruddin Jehad (6 September 1969 – 10 October 1990) was an activist of the pro-democracy movement of Bangladesh that led to the 1990 Mass Uprising in Bangladesh. Jehad, the first casualty of the 1990 Mass Uprising in Bangladesh was killed on 10 October due to the police excesses during the first nationwide strike of the full-fledged movement against Ershad, in front of Dainik Bangla intersection of capital Dhaka. His death added fuel to the fire of the full-fledged movement, unified the students of all organisations and led to the fall of Hussain Muhammad Ershad on 4 December 1990. Amanullah Aman is a Bangladesh Nationalist Party politician and the former Member of Parliament. He is the joint secretary general of BNP. Early life Aman was born in Keraniganj Upazila, Dhaka District. Career Aman started his political career in the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal. He was elected as Vice President of Dhaka University Central Students' Union in 1990. Dhaka University Central Students' Union, also known by its acronym DUCSU, is the official students' union of the University of Dhaka. Called the second parliament of Bangladesh, DUCSU represents Dhaka University students in the university's decision-making, acts as the voice for students in the national higher education policy debate, and to provides direct services to the student body. Begum Khaleda Zia
Khaleda Zia (; born Khaleda Khanam Putul in 1945) is a Bangladeshi politician who served as the Prime Minister of Bangladesh from March 1991 to March 1996, and again from June 2001 to October 2006.
