1989–90 Football League Cup
The 1989–90 Football League Cup (known as the Littlewoods Challenge Cup for sponsorship reasons) was the 30th season of the EFL Cup, Football League Cup, a knockout competition for England's top 92 football clubs. The competition began on 21 August 1989, and ended with the final on 29 April 1990 at the Wembley Stadium (1923), Old Wembley Stadium. Franz Carr
Franz Carr (born 24 September 1966) is an English former professional footballer who played as a winger from 1984 until 2000. He made 131 appearances in seven years with Nottingham Forest, and had shorter spells in the Premier League or Football League with Sheffield Wednesday, West Ham United, Newcastle United, Sheffield United, Leicester City, Aston Villa, Bolton Wanderers and West Bromwich Albion. He also spent time in Italy with Reggiana. Mike Milligan (footballer)
Michael Milligan (born 20 February 1967) is a football coach and former professional player. He left school in 1983 and signed for Oldham Athletic, establishing himself as a regular midfielder in the later part of the 1980s and helping them reach the FA Cup semi-final and Football League Cup final (which they lost to Nottingham Forest) in the 1989–90. After the end of the season, he signed for Everton in a £1 million deal, but the move was not a success and after just one season at Goodison Park, Joe Royle bought him back to Oldham, who had just returned to the top flight after a 68-year exile. Frankie Bunn
Frank Stephen Bunn (born 6 November 1962) is an English former professional footballer who is currently the U23 coach of League One club Wigan Athletic. He holds the Football League Cup record for the most goals (six) by a player in a single match, achieved in 1989. Career He played as a striker and began his career at Luton Town, and later played for Hull City and Oldham Athletic. His most famous moment as a player came on 25 October 1989, when he scored six goals in Oldham's 7–0 victory over Scarborough in the third round of the League Cup, which is still the League Cup record for most goals by a player in a single match. Andy Ritchie (English Footballer)
Andrew Timothy Ritchie (born 28 November 1960) is an English former footballer and manager. Playing career Ritchie was born in Manchester. After playing for England Schoolboys (once scoring three goals against Germany), he started his career in 1977–78 with Manchester United and scored a hat-trick against Leeds United while aged just 18 and another hat-trick against Spurs when 19, but was then surprisingly sold to Brighton & Hove Albion. He was later sold to Leeds United, where he made some fine performances, notably in the 1984–85 season when he scored two hat-tricks. Neil Adams (footballer)
Neil James Adams (born 23 November 1965) is an English former professional footballer and former manager of Norwich City. He played as a midfielder for Stoke City, Everton, Oldham Athletic and Norwich City. He is currently the Assistant Sporting Director for Norwich City, having previously held the role of Loans Manager since 2015. Adams began his career playing for his local club Stoke City, where he quickly earned a reputation of being a tricky and productive winger. This prompted Everton to pay a fee of £150,000 for his signature in June 1986. Paul Warhurst
Paul Warhurst (born 26 September 1969) is an English former professional footballer who played as a defender, midfielder or striker. Warhurst notably played in the Premier League for Sheffield Wednesday, Blackburn Rovers, Crystal Palace and Bolton Wanderers. Earl Delisser Barrett (born 28 April 1967) is an English football coach and former footballer who played as a defender, featuring in the Premier League for Oldham Athletic, Aston Villa, Everton and Sheffield Wednesday and in the Football League for Chester City and Sheffield United. Nick Henry (born 21 February 1969) is an English former professional footballer who played as a midfielder and spent most of his career at Oldham Athletic. Andrew Charles Rhodes (born 23 August 1964) is an English former football goalkeeper and ex-assistant manager of Oldham Athletic.
