The 1990 Belgian Indoor Championships was a tennis tournament played on indoor carpet courts. It was the 9th edition of the event known that year as the Belgian Indoor Championships, and was part of the ATP Championship Series, double-week events of the 1990 ATP Tour, running concurrently with the 1990 SkyDome World Tennis Tournament. It took place at the Forest National in Brussels, Belgium, from 12 February until 18 February 1990. First-seeded Boris Becker won the singles title. ATP Championship Series
International Series Gold (previously known as the Championship Series) was a series of professional tennis tournaments held internationally between 2000 and 2008 that were part of the ATP Tour. The tournaments were positioned below the ATP Masters Series, and above the ATP International Series in terms of prize money and ranking points available. International Series Gold tournaments offered players cash prizes (purses from $755,000 to $1,426,250 as of 2008) and the ability to earn ATP ranking points. The 1990 IBM ATP Tour was the first season of the ATP Tour, the newly formed tennis circuit which came in to replace the Grand Prix and WCT tournaments. It was the elite tour for professional tennis organized by the Association of Tennis Professionals. Balázs Taróczy
Balázs Taróczy ( hu, Taróczy Balázs; born 9 May 1954) is a retired tennis player from Hungary. The right-hander won 13 singles titles in his career, and achieved a career-high singles ranking of world No. 12 in April 1982. Tennis career Taróczy was six times a Hungarian national champion. One of the game's premier doubles players, Balazs and partner Heinz Günthardt won the 1985 Wimbledon doubles title. Though never especially proficient on the grass, the duo defeated Pat Cash/John Fitzgerald in four sets. Donnay Indoor Championships
The Brussels Indoor (also known as the ''Donnay Indoor Championships'') is a defunct professional tennis tournament played on indoor carpet courts at Forest National in Brussels. It was part of the Grand Prix tennis circuit initially and later, for three years, the ATP Championship Series of the ATP Tour. The tournament was established in 1980, becoming the second tournament to be played in Brussels, along with the ATP Brussels Outdoor. The following year the outdoor tournament was played for the last time, leaving the Donnay Indoor Championships as the sole professional tournament in the region. It is one of the fastest court types, second only to grass courts. The use of carpet courts in ATP Tour competitions ended in 2009. In women's tennis, no WTA Tour tournaments have used carpet courts since the last edition of the Tournoi de Québec in 2018. ATP Challenger and ITF circuit level tournaments with carpet courts continue to exist up to the present (2022). Types There are two types of carpet court.
