1990 Detroit Lions Season
The 1990 NFL season, 1990 Detroit Lions season was the 61st season in franchise history and their 57th in Detroit. Despite a stellar season from Barry Sanders who scored 16 touchdowns and led the league in rushing, the Lions took a step backward and finished in third place with a disappointing, seventh-consecutive losing record of 6–10, as they struggled to find a consistent quarterback. The conclusion of this season meant that up to this point, the Lions had only made three playoff appearances, won only one division title and not won a single playoff game since their last NFL Championship in 1957. NFC Central
The National Football Conference – Northern Division or NFC North is one of the four divisions of the National Football Conference (NFC) in the National Football League (NFL). Nicknamed the "Black and Blue Division" for the rough and tough rivalry games between the teams, it currently has four members: the Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers, and Minnesota Vikings. The NFC North was previously known as the NFC Central from 1970 to 2001. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were previously members, from 1977, one year after they joined the league as an expansion team, until 2002 when they moved to the NFC South. 1989 Colorado Buffaloes Football Team
The 1989 Colorado Buffaloes football team represented the University of Colorado at Boulder in the Big Eight Conference during the 1989 NCAA Division I-A football season. Colorado finished with the most wins in school history, surpassing the 1971 team, and their first conference championship in thirteen years. The Buffaloes went undefeated in the regular season at 11–0 (7–0 in Big 8) and played for the national title, but lost to fourth-ranked Notre Dame in the Orange Bowl. The team dedicated the season to senior and former starting quarterback Sal Aunese, who was diagnosed with stomach cancer in late March, and died at age 21 on September 23 due to complications from the disease. Pat Carter (born August 1, 1966) is a former American football player, active from 1988 to 1998. After graduating from Florida State University, Carter played tight end for the Detroit Lions, the Los Angeles and St. Louis Rams, the Houston Oilers, and the Arizona Cardinals. Pat Carter entered his third NFL season with Head Coach Rod Marinelli’s coaching staff. The 1990 Los Angeles Rams season was the team's 53rd year with the National Football League and 45th season in Los Angeles. On November 11, 1990, Marcus Dupree made his NFL debut against the New York Giants. The Rams, temporarily playing in the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, looked to improve on their 11–5 season from 1989 and make the playoffs for the third consecutive season and be possible contenders for the Super Bowl. However, the Rams would struggle all season, starting 1–4 before winning two of their next three games before losing their next two as they dipped to a 3–7 record. After a win over Cleveland, the Rams upset the 49ers 28–17 in San Francisco to improve to 5–7. However, this would be perhaps the only good highlight of the season for the Rams.
