1990 Brandenburg State Election
The 1990 Brandenburg state election was held on 14 October 1990 to elect the members of the first Landtag of Brandenburg. It was the first election held in Brandenburg since the reunification of Germany, which took place on 3 October. The Social Democratic Party (SPD) led by Manfred Stolpe emerged as the largest party with 38.2% of the vote, followed by the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) with 29.6%. The SPD subsequently formed Germany's first traffic light coalition with the Free Democratic Party (FDP) and Alliance 90, and Stolpe became Brandenburg's first post-reunification Minister-President. Landtag Of Brandenburg
The Landtag of Brandenburg is the unicameral legislature of the state of Brandenburg in Germany. Its 88 members of parliament are usually elected every 5 years. It is responsible for deciding on state laws, controlling the state government and public administration, deciding on the budget and electing its presidium, state constitutional judges, the members of the state court of audit and the minister president. On 1 September 2019 elections to the 7th Landtag were held. Six political parties managed to gain representation. The Republicans (Germany)
The Republicans (german: Die Republikaner, REP) is a national conservative political party in Germany. The primary plank of the programme is opposition to immigration. The party tends to attract protest voters who think that the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and the Christian Social Union of Bavaria (CSU) are not sufficiently conservative.
