1989–90 United States Network Television Schedule
The 1989–90 network television schedule for the four major English language commercial broadcast networks in the United States. The schedule covers primetime hours from September 1989 through August 1990. The schedule is followed by a list per network of returning series, new series, and series cancelled after the 1988–89 season. PBS is not included; member stations have local flexibility over most of their schedules and broadcast times for network shows may vary. New series are highlighted in bold. This is the first season to feature entirely closed captioning programs on the Big Four networks. This was the first time that two programs were tied for the no. 1 spot in the Nielsen ratings. All times are U.S. Eastern and Pacific Time (except for some live sports or events). Subtract one hour for Central, Mountain, Alaska and Hawaii-Aleutian times. In the United States, for most of the history of broadcasting, there were only three or four major commercial national terrestrial networks. The ABC Sunday Night Movie
''The ABC Sunday Night Movie'' is a television program that aired on Sunday nights, first for a brief time in 1962 under the title ''Hollywood Special'' (although ''Time'' magazine lists this version as ''The Sunday Night Movie'') to supposedly replace an open time slot for the TV show ''Bus Stop'', which was cancelled after March 1962. It then began airing regularly under its more commonly known title from late 1964 to 1998, on ABC. Since 2004, it has aired sporadically as a special program, now titled the ''ABC Sunday Movie of the Week'', though as of the 2011-12 television season, the only films in this timeslot were aired under the ''Hallmark Hall of Fame'' banner, which transferred to ABC in that season. However, in 2014, ''The Hallmark Hall of Fame'' moved exclusively to cable on the Hallmark Channel. ''Totally Hidden Video'' is an American hidden-camera television show and game show that aired from 1989 to 1992. It was one of the early shows in the history of the Fox television network and held the highest viewing share for any Fox program at one point. It was produced by Quantum Media and Fox. The show premiered on Sunday, July 9, 1989. Steve Skrovan was the program's first host, later replaced by Mark Pitta in 1991. Shortly after its debut, a game segment called ''Totally Home Made Videos'' was added to the show. In this segment, contestants send in their funny videos to win a $10,000 prize, the winners of which were announced by Skrovan at the end of every episode - very similar to the format used by sister show America's Funniest Home Videos. ''America's Most Wanted'' (often abbreviated as ''AMW'') is an American television program whose first run was produced by 20th Television, and second run is under the Fox Alternative Entertainment division of Fox Corporation. At the time of its cancellation by the Fox television network in June 2011, it was the longest-running program in the network's history (24 seasons), a mark since surpassed by ''The Simpsons'', although the program was revived ten years later.
