1989–90 Cypriot Second Division
The 1989–90 Cypriot Second Division was the 35th season of the Cypriot second-level football league. EPA Larnaca won their 1st title. Format Fifteen teams participated in the 1989–90 Cypriot Second Division. All teams played against each other twice, once at their home and once away. The team with the most points at the end of the season crowned champions. The first two teams were promoted to 1990–91 Cypriot First Division. The last three teams were relegated to the 1990–91 Cypriot Third Division. Cypriot Second Division
The Cypriot Second Division ( el, Πρωτάθλημα Β΄ Κατηγορίας) is the second highest football division of the Cypriot football league system. Administrated by the Cyprus Football Association, it is contested by 16 teams, with the top two teams being promoted to the Cypriot First Division and the last four teams being relegated to the Cypriot Third Division. History The Cypriot Second Division started unofficially the 1934–35 football season as the second level of the Cypriot football (Cyprus Football Association founded in 1934). The competition consisted of teams that didn't participate in Cypriot First Division and the reserve teams of the Cypriot First Division clubs. In the reserve teams were allowed to participate only players that had no more than three caps with their team in First Division. The 1989–90 Cypriot Third Division was the 19th season of the Cypriot third-level football league. APEP Pelendriou won their 1st title. Format Fourteen teams participated in the 1989–90 Cypriot Third Division. All teams played against each other twice, once at their home and once away. The team with the most points at the end of the season crowned champions. The first two teams were promoted to 1990–91 Cypriot Second Division. 1989–90 Cypriot Cup
The 1989–90 Cypriot Cup was the 48th edition of the Cypriot Cup. A total of 71 clubs entered the competition. It began on 29 November 1989 with the first preliminary round and concluded on 9 June 1990 with the final which was held at Tsirio Stadium. Nea Salamis won their 1st Cypriot Cup trophy after beating Omonia 3–2 in the final. Format In the 1989–90 Cypriot Cup, participated all the teams of the Cypriot First Division, the Cypriot Second Division, the Cypriot Third Division and 28 of the 41 teams of the Cypriot Fourth Division. The competition consisted of seven knock-out rounds. In the preliminary rounds each tie was played as a single leg and was held at the home ground of the one of the two teams, according to the draw results. Orfeas Nicosia () is a football club from the Cypriot capital of Nicosia. It was founded in 1948. The club colors are yellow and green. It has participated in the Cypriot First Division four times, from 1959 until 1963. The club's highest achievement is finishing 7th in the 1961–62 season. Akritas Chlorakas ( el, Ακρίτας Χλώρακας) is a Cypriot football club based in Chloraka, Paphos. The club was founded in 1971, and currently plays in the Cypriot First Division. Akritas' colours are green and white, and they play their home games at the Chloraka Municipal Stadium. History Founded in 1971, Akritas Chlorakas joined the Cyprus Football Association in 1973, competing in the Cypriot Third Division. For many years, Akritas fluctuated between the Second and Third Division, winning the Third Division a total of three times, and winning the Cypriot Cup for Lower Divisions on one occasion. Doxa Katokopias FC ( el, Δόξα Κατωκοπιάς) is a Cypriot football team from Katokopia in the Nicosia District. Since the Turkish invasion of Cyprus in 1974, Katokopia is under Turkish occupation, and the club moved to Peristerona, which is near Katokopia. Elpida Xylofagou is a Cypriot football club based in the village of Xylofagou in Larnaca district. The club, which was established in 1959, currently competes in the Cypriot Second Division, after a successful campaign in the Cypriot Third Division, from which it gains the promotion.
