The 1989 du Maurier Classic was contested from June 29 to July 2 at Beaconsfield Golf Club. It was the 17th edition of the du Maurier Classic, and the 11th edition as a major championship on the LPGA Tour. This event was won by Tammie Green. The CP Women's Open (french: Open féminin du Canada) is a women's professional golf tournament managed by Golf Canada. It has been Canada's national championship tournament since its founding in 1973 LPGA Tour, 1973, and is an official event on the LPGA Tour. History Originally a three-round (54-hole) tournament for its first six years; it has been a four-round (72-hole) tournament since 1978 LPGA Tour, 1978. From 1979 LPGA Tour, 1979 through 2000 LPGA Tour, 2000, the event was one of the LPGA Tour's four Women's major golf championships, major championships. In 2001 LPGA Tour, 2001, it was replaced in the LPGA's roster of majors by the Women's British Open, an existing event which was already a major on the Ladies European Tour. Dawn Coe
Dawn Coe-Jones (October 19, 1960 – November 12, 2016) was a Canadian professional golfer who played on the LPGA Tour, and a member of the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame. She was the first female Canadian golfer to surpass $1million in career earnings, announcing the arrival of Canadian female golfers upon the world stage in the 1990s. Early years Coe-Jones was born in Campbell River, British Columbia. Growing up in Lake Cowichan on Vancouver Island, she worked as a teenager at March Meadows Golf Course in Honeymoon Bay. She had an outstanding amateur career, scoring back-to-back wins in the B.C. Junior tournament in 1978 and 1979 and the B.C. Amateur in 1982 and 1983. She capped her 1983 season with the Canadian Women's Amateur title and won NCAA all-American honours at Lamar University.
