The 1989 Embassy World Indoor Bowls Championship was held at Preston Guild Hall, Preston, England, from 1 to 12 March 1989. The event moved to the Preston Guild Hall from Alexandra Palace. Wynne Richards (born 10 June 1950) is a former male international lawn and indoor bowler. Bowls career Wynne was born in Merthyr Tydfil in Wales and began bowling at his father's club Troedyrhiw. He moved to London and represented England before winning the 1984 and 1986 English National Championship singles and the singles at the British Isles Bowls Championships in 1985. He has also won the British Isles indoor singles title in 1985. His best achievement on the international stage came when he finished runner up to Hugh Duff in the 1988 World Indoor Bowls Championship. William Kidd (born 24 July 1956) is a Scottish National Party (SNP) politician, and Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) for the Glasgow Anniesland constituency since 2011, having previously represented the Glasgow region from 2007–2011. He is currently the Convenor of the Cross Party Group on Nuclear Disarmament and Deputy Convenor of the Cross Party Group on Human Trafficking. John Watson is a former Scottish lawn and indoor bowler and was born in Scotland on 22 November 1945. Watson came to prominence in 1975 after winning the Scottish Indoor Junior Singles title. John Haydn Price is a former Welsh international lawn and indoor bowler and current bowls commentator. Bowls career Early life Brought into the game by his grandparents at the age of 10, and as a schoolboy, he initially played only during the summer holidays, winning a couple of open tournaments in partnership with his father Harry. Denis Dalton
Denis Dalton (born 10 October 1942) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Collingwood in the Victorian Football League (VFL) during the 1960s and a former international lawn bowler. Australian rules An Old Paradian, Dalton was used mostly as a rover in his two seasons at Collingwood. He appeared in the 1964 VFL Grand Final and kicked a goal from the forward pocket, in a four-point loss.
