1989 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships
The 25th Artistic Gymnastics World Championships were held in Stuttgart, West Germany, in 1989 from October 14 to October 22. The scoring rule ''New Life'' was introduced. This meant that gymnasts' scores were not carried over to the all-around and the event finals from the team competition. World Artistic Gymnastics Championships
The Artistic Gymnastics World Championships are the world championships for artistic gymnastics governed by the Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique (FIG). The first edition of the championships was held in 1903, exclusively for male gymnasts. Since the tenth edition of the tournament, in 1934, women's events are held together with men's events. The FIG was founded in 1881 and was originally entitled FEG (Fédération Européenne de Gymnastique), but changed its name in 1921, becoming the Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique (FIG); this name change roughly correlates with the actual naming of the World Championships. Although the first such games were held in 1903, they were not initially entitled the 'World Championships'. Olesya lternate spelling OlessiaDudnik (Олеся Віталіївна Дудник; born August 15, 1974 in Zaporizhia, Ukraine) is a gymnastics coach and former artistic gymnast who competed internationally for the Soviet Union between 1988 and 1990. Svetlana Leonidovna Boginskaya ( be, Святлана Леанідаўна Багінская, Sviatlana Lieanidauna Bahinskaya; russian: Светла́на Леони́довна Боги́нская; born February 9, 1973) is a former artistic gymnast for the Soviet Union and Belarus of Belarusian origin. Natalia Laschenova
Natalia Vasiliyevna Laschenova (russian: Наталья Васильевна Лащенова) (born September 16, 1973 in Jelgava, Latvian SSR, Soviet Union) is a retired Soviet gymnast. Laschenova competed at the 1988 Summer Olympics and the 1989 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. Laschenova is best known for her difficult skills, deceptive power, strong technique and highly expressive dance. is a Japanese gymnast and Olympic medalist. Sports career Iketani received a bronze medal in ''floor exercise'' and in ''team all-around'' 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul. He received a silver medal in ''floor exercise'' and a bronze medal in ''team all-around'' 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona. Yuri Chechi
Jury Dimitri Chechi (; born 11 October 1969) is a retired Italian gymnast. Biography Chechi was named after cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin. He won the Olympics title in the rings at Atlanta 1996 and was third at Athens 2004. Chechi's bronze was the result of his attempted comeback into the sport at the age of 35, well above what is considered the average age of a male gymnast. Chechi dominated his specialty, the rings, during the nineties, so he was nicknamed "the Lord of the Rings"; however, he could not participate in the Barcelona 1992 and Sydney 2000 Olympic games due to serious injuries.
