1989 PBA Open Conference Finals
The 1989 PBA Open Conference Finals was the best-of-7 series basketball championship of the 1989 PBA Open Conference, and the conclusion of the conference's playoffs. The San Miguel Beermen and Formula Shell Zoom Masters played for the 42nd championship contested by the league. The finals series serves as a rematch between these two teams that battled in the Third Conference finals last season. The San Miguel Beermen repeated against the Formula Shell Zoom Masters in a similar 4–1 conquest and retains the PBA Open Conference crown. San Miguel Beermen
The San Miguel Beermen are a professional basketball team in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). It is one of three PBA clubs owned by the San Miguel Corporation group of companies along with the Magnolia Hotshots and Barangay Ginebra San Miguel. It is the most successful franchise in the history of the PBA and the only remaining original franchise in the league. The Beermen have the most titles with 28 and the most all-time victories with more than 1,200 wins. In addition, it has won the Grand Slam in and the Perpetual Jun Bernardino Trophy after winning three straight PBA Philippine Cups from 2015 to 2017. Ronald Fredrick William Nathanielsz (November 3, 1935 – November 11, 2016), was a Sri Lankan-born Filipino sports journalist, commentator and analyst. Early life Nathanielsz was born in Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) in 1935. He was the eldest son of Elmo Nathanielsz and his wife Phyllis ( née Labrooy) of Colombo. He and his brother-in-law, Annesley 'Bunny' Joseph, belonged to the same boxing club in their youth. They trained under former Ceylon flyweight champion Henry Young, who thought that Ronnie had the potential to become an Olympic boxer. A color commentator or expert commentator is a sports commentator who assists the main (play-by-play) commentator, typically by filling in when play is not in progress. The phrase "colour commentator" is primarily used in Canadian English and the phrase "color commentator" is now rarely used in American English as the role is now more commonly known in the USA as "game analyst" or "match analyst".
