1989 Kerry Senior Football Championship
The 1989 Kerry Senior Football Championship was the 89th staging of the Kerry Senior Football Championship since its establishment by the Kerry County Board in 1889. The championship ran from 24 June to 24 September 1989. It was the first championship to be sponsored after Allied Irish Bank took over the role. Kenmare entered the championship as the defending champions, however, they were beaten by Laune Rangers in the quarter-finals. The final was played on 24 September 1989 at FitzGerald Stadium in Killarney, between Laune Rangers and John Mitchels, in what was their first ever meeting in the final. Laune Rangers won the match by 2-13 to 1-06 to claim their seventh championship title overall and a first title in 78 years. Castleisland Desmonds are a Gaelic Athletic Association club in Castleisland, County Kerry, Ireland. The club won its first County Championship in 1950. They won others in 1981, 1982 and 1984. Feale Rangers GAA
Feale Rangers is a North Kerry Divisional Gaelic football team in Kerry. The teams involved are Clounmacon, Duagh, Finuge, Gale Rangers, Listowel Emmets, Moyvane and St Senan's. History The first mention of Feale Rangers was in 1956 when a Feale Rangers side represented North Kerry in the Kerry Senior Football Championship after two previous sides, North Kerry and Shannon Rangers joined forces. This newly formed team contested the County Finals in 1959 and 1962 to John Mitchels and the semi-final in 1963, which they lost to eventual winners John Mitchels. This was no bad result versus the great John Mitchels team that won the County Finals 5 times in a row in 1959, 1960, 1961, 1962 and 1963. The East Kerry Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association caters for 13 Gaelic football clubs and 1 hurling club in the East Kerry division of the GAA county of Kerry. History Early Years The East Kerry Board was founded in 1925 following a decision to sub-divide Kerry into a number of divisions. The first chairman and secretary were football legends Dick Fitzgerald and Paul Russell. The first meeting of the new Board was attended by delegates from eight clubs; Currow, Farranfore, Firies, Headford, Kenmare, Killarney, Kilcummin and Killorglin. Kenmare GAA (Irish: ) is a Gaelic Athletic Association club from Kenmare in County Kerry. Valentia Young Islanders
Valentia Young Islanders are a Gaelic Athletic Association club from Valentia Island, South County Kerry, Ireland. They play in Division 4 of the county league and in the Kerry Novice Football Championship. The club's most recent success has been winning the Munster Junior football championship final after beating Kildimo-Pallaskenry 12 points to 1-8 on 25 January 2015. The Young Islanders is one of the many clubs affected by mass emigration, losing numerous players in this manner.
