Baudouin (;, ; nl, Boudewijn Albert Karel Leopold Axel Maria Gustaaf, ; german: Balduin Albrecht Karl Leopold Axel Maria Gustav. 7 September 1930 – 31 July 1993), Dutch name Boudewijn, was King of the Belgians from 17 July 1951 until his death in 1993. He was the last Belgian king to be sovereign of the Congo. Baudouin was the elder son of King Leopold III (1901–1983) and his first wife, Princess Astrid of Sweden (1905–1935). Because he and his wife, Queen Fabiola, had no children, at Baudouin's death the crown passed to his younger brother, King Albert II. Wilfried Martens
Wilfried Achiel Emma Martens (; 19 April 1936 – 9 October 2013) was a Belgian politician who served as prime minister of Belgium from 1979 to 1981 and from 1981 to 1992. A member of the Flemish Christian People's Party, during his premiership he oversaw the transformation of Belgium into a federal state. He was one of the founders of the European People's Party. Early life Martens was born on 19 April 1936 in the village of Sleidinge, East Flanders, the son of small farmers. He studied law at the Catholic University of Leuven, graduating in 1960. Martens became active in the Flemish Movement as a student. He began to draw public attention in 1957 when, as president of the Flemish Youth Committee, he organized a march to protest the lack of Flemish presence in the 1958 Brussels World's Fair, and was subsequently arrested while protesting the opening of the exposition. Paul Schruers
Paul Schruers (1929–2008) was the second Bishop of Hasselt in Belgium. Life Schruers was born in Hasselt on 25 October 1929. He experienced a sense of religious vocation from the age of 16. He studied at the minor seminary in Sint-Truiden and the Diocesan Seminary of Liège, where he was ordained to the priesthood in 1954. From 1957 to 1967 he was professor of dogmatic theology at the Diocesan Seminary in Liège. He was appointed vicar general when the diocese of Hasselt was founded in 1967, and auxiliary bishop in 1970. On 15 December 1989 he succeeded Jozef Heusschen as bishop. Pope John Paul II accepted his resignation on 25 October 2004. After a brain haemorrhage in May 2008 he never fully recovered. Danny Huwé (1 December 1943 – ) was a Belgian journalist who was working for VTM, Vlaamse Televisie Maatschappij (English: Flemish Television Company), at the time of his death. Before VTM he worked as a radio journalist at the BRT (national radio and television) for many years together with journalists such as Rudi Dufour, Rudi Vranckx, Mark Ooms, and Piet Deslé. He was killed during the Romanian Revolution. Biography He was born in Geraardsbergen (Belgium), and killed on 24 or 25 December 1989 in Bucharest (Romania) during the Romanian Revolution. He was shot by a sniper thought to be loyal to Nicolae Ceaușescu. Huwé was travelling by car from Sofia, Bulgaria towards central Bucharest. His car was in the southwestern part of the city, in the Drumul Taberei neighborhood, when it was blocked by a tank. Border guards opened fire, hitting him in the head.
