1989 Grand Prix (tennis)
The 1989 Nabisco Grand Prix was the only tennis circuit for male players held that year. It incorporated the four grand slam tournaments, one World Championship Tennis tournament and the Grand Prix tournaments. Ivan Lendl
Ivan Lendl (; born March 7, 1960) is a Czech–American former professional tennis player. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest tennis players of all time. Lendl was ranked world No. 1 in singles for 270 weeks and won 94 singles titles. He won eight major singles titles and was runner-up a joint record 11 times (tied with Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic), making him the first man to contest 19 major finals. Lendl also contested a record eight consecutive US Open finals, and won seven year-end championships. Lendl is the only man in professional tennis history to have a match winning percentage of over 90% in five different years (1982, 1985, 1986, 1987, and 1989). 1989 South Australian Open – Doubles
Darren Cahill and Mark Kratzmann were the defending champions but they competed with different partners that year, Cahill with Mark Woodforde and Kratzmann with Glenn Layendecker. The 1989 BP National Championships was a men's tennis tournament played on outdoor hard courts in Wellington, New Zealand and was part of the 1989 Nabisco Grand Prix. Layendecker's highest doubles ranking was world No. 32. Neil Broad (born 20 November 1966) is a former professional tennis player who represented Great Britain for most of his playing career. He is a former UK number 1 who won seven ATP tour doubles titles in his career, and won the silver medal in doubles at the 1996 Summer Olympics. Playing career overview The right-hander played primarily doubles in his career. He achieved his highest doubles ranking of No. 9 on 9 April 1990. Mark Edward Kratzmann (born 17 May 1966) is a former Australian professional tennis player. Tennis career Kratzmann was an Australian Institute of Sport scholarship holder in 1983. Juniors As the world's No. 1 ranked junior player in 1984, Kratzmann won the boys' singles tournaments at the Australian Open, Wimbledon and the US Open that year.
