Soviet Second League
The Soviet Second League (russian: Чемпионат СССР по футболу (вторая лига), Soviet football championship (Second League)) was the third highest division of Soviet football, below the Soviet First League. The league was formed in 1971 in place of the Class A Second Group of the Soviet football championship just a year after the division was downgraded to the third tier. Previously, the third tier competition predecessor Class B was liquidated completely. The Second League remained in force until dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991. Overview The Soviet third tier competitions were conducted since the establishment of the Soviet football championship among teams of masters in 1936. FC Zvezda Perm (russian: link=no, ФК "Звезда" Пермь) was a Russian football team from Perm, established in 1932 and dissolved in 2022. History It played professionally from 1945 to 1949 and 1953 to 1995, and was established first in 1932. It played on the second-highest level ( Soviet First League and Russian First Division) in 1945–1949, 1953–1962, 1966–1969, 1972–1977, 1979, 1988 and 1992–1994, with the best result being 2nd place in 1960 and 3rd place in 1947, 1958 and 1992. FC Lokomotiv Nizhny Novgorod was a Russian football club based in Nizhny Novgorod. They spent eight seasons in the Russian Premier League. History Early years The team of the railway workers was founded in Nizhny Novgorod in 1916. Later it was known as ''Chervonka'' (1918-1922), ''Spartak'' (1923-1930), ''Tyaga'' (1931), ''Zheleznodorozhniki'' (1932-1935). In 1936 the team was renamed ''Lokomotiv'' and retained this name until 2002, when it was renamed ''Lokomotiv-NN''. The team played in the Soviet Second League until the dissolution of USSR. In 1988 the club was renamed after VAZ's '' Lada'' brand. Since entering the Russian First Division in 1992 Lada experienced a number of divisional movements. They played in the Top Division in 1994 and 1996, in the First Division in 1992–1993, 1995, 1997–1998, 2000–2003 and 2006, and in the Second Division in 1999 and 2004–2005.
