1987 NSL Cup Final
The 1987 NSL Cup Final was the 11th final of the NSL Cup. The final was contested two-legged home-and-away format between Sydney Croatia and South Melbourne. The first leg was hosted by Sydney Croatia at St George Stadium in Sydney on 14 October 1987, while the second leg was hosted by South Melbourne at Olympic Park in Melbourne on 18 October 1987. The 1987 NSL Cup was the eleventh edition of the NSL Cup, which was the main national association football single-elimination tournament, knockout cup competition in Australia. The NSL Cup was sponsored by Beach Fashions and known as the Beach Fashions Cup for sponsorship purposes. Hakoah Sydney City East FC, Sydney City were the defending champions, having defeated West Adelaide SC, Adelaide Hellas to win their first title in the previous year's 1986 NSL Cup final, final, but they withdrew the competition due to the Hakoah Social Club withdrawing its financial support. Sydney United 58 FC, Sydney Croatia defeated South Melbourne FC, South Melbourne 2–0 on aggregate in the 1987 NSL Cup final, final to win their first NSL Cup title. Bobby Russell (April 19, 1940 – November 19, 1992) was an American singer and songwriter. Between 1966 and 1973, he had five singles on the Hot Country Songs charts, including the crossover pop hit "Saturday Morning Confusion". Russell was married to singer and actress Vicki Lawrence from 1972 to 1974. Career Russell wrote hits over several genres. His most notable songs were " The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia", his critique of country justice (a No. 1 hit for his then-wife Vicki Lawrence), "Used to Be" (sung by Lawrence) and "As Far As I'm Concerned" (sung by Russell) both from the 1970 film '' The Grasshopper''; and " Little Green Apples", which won a Song of the Year Grammy Award in 1968. Graham Arnold
Graham James Arnold (born 3 August 1963) is an Australian soccer manager and former player. Arnold was appointed to work as an assistant coach of the Australian national soccer team in 2000. After head coach Frank Farina was sacked in 2005, Arnold worked with Guus Hiddink for the 2006 FIFA World Cup campaign, in which they made the second round of the finals. After Hiddink left, he became interim coach of the Socceroos. Arnold went on to qualify Australia's U23 men's national soccer team (nicknamed the Olyroos) for the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Arnold then went on to assist Pim Verbeek for qualification of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. Mark Sean Jones (born 5 June 1966) is a former Australian association football player. He last served as manager of the Newcastle Jets. Playing career Jones began his career with Newcastle Rosebud in 1985 before joining Sydney Croatia in 1987, where he enjoyed the most success including winning the NSL Cup in 1987 and made the NSL Grand Final in 1988. He joined Marconi Fairfield in 1990 and spent two seasons at Bossley Park before finishing his career in his hometown with Newcastle Breakers in the 1993/1994 season.
