Soviet Union
The Soviet Union,. officially the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. (USSR),. was a transcontinental country that spanned much of Eurasia from 1922 to 1991. A flagship communist state, it was nominally a federal union of fifteen national republics; in practice, both its government and its economy were highly centralized until its final years. Alexander Nikolayevich Samokhvalov
Alexander Nikolayevich Samokhvalov (russian: Алекса́ндр Никола́евич Самохва́лов; 21 August 1894 – 20 August 1971) was a Soviet Russian painter, watercolorist, graphic artist, illustrator, art teacher and Honored Arts Worker of the RSFSR, who lived and worked in Leningrad. He was a member of the Leningrad branch of Union of Artists of Russian Federation, and was regarded as one of the founders and brightest representatives of the Leningrad school of painting, most famous for his genre and portrait painting. Biography Alexander Nikolayevich Samokhvalov was born on 21 August 1894 in the town of Bezhetsk, located in the Tver Governorate of the Russian Empire. In 1914, Samokhvalov enrolled in the Higher Art School of the Imperial Academy of Arts in Saint Petersburg. Georgy Nissky
Georgy Grigoryevich Nissky (; 21 January 1903 – 18 June 1987) was a prominent Soviet painter and a founder of the severe style. In 2019, an exhibition of his work was held at the Institute of Russian Realist Art. Biography Nessky was born in the family of a station feldsher at a small Novobelitsa station not far from Gomel. He loved to draw since childhood, he studied at the fine arts studio, where he got thanks to the local painter Zorin. After graduating from the M. A. Vrubel Gomel Art Studio-School in 1921, he went to Moscow and entered preparatory courses at the Higher Art and Technical Workshops (VKHUTEMAS). After completing the courses, he moved to the painting department, where his teachers were Robert Falk and Aleksandr Drevin. In addition to studies, he paid a lot of attention to sports, in particular volleyball and acrobatics. He was a member of the Leningrad Union of Artists, regarded as one of representatives of the Leningrad School of Painting. People's Artist Of The USSR
People's Artist of the USSR ( rus, Народный артист СССР, Narodny artist SSSR), also sometimes translated as National Artist of the USSR, was an honorary title granted to artists of the Soviet Union. Nomenclature and significance The term is confusingly used to translate two Russian language titles: Народный артист СССР (fem. Народная артистка СССР), awarded in performing arts and Народный художник СССР, granted in some visual arts. Each Soviet Republic, as well as the Autonomous Republics (ASSRs), had a similar award held previously by virtually every receiver of the higher title of People's Artist of the USSR. As this title was granted by the government, honorees were afforded certain privileges and would often receive commissions from the Minister of Culture of the Soviet Union. Victor Mikhailovich Oreshnikov (russian: Виктор Михайлович Орешников) (January 7 ( O.S.
