1987 DFB-Pokal Final
The 1987 DFB-Pokal Final decided the winner of the 1986–87 DFB-Pokal, the 44th season of Germany's premier knockout football cup competition. It was played on 20 June 1987 at the Olympiastadion in West Berlin. Hamburger SV won the match 3–1 against second division Stuttgarter Kickers to claim their third cup title. Route to the final The DFB-Pokal began with 64 teams in a single-elimination knockout cup competition. There were a total of five rounds leading up to the final. Teams were drawn against each other, and the winner after 90 minutes would advance. If still tied, 30 minutes of extra time was played. Uli Stein
Ulrich "Uli" Stein (born 23 October 1954) is a German former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. Between 1978 and 1997, made 512 appearances in the German Bundesliga. He began his career in 1978 with Arminia Bielefeld. After two years, he moved to Hamburger SV where he played from 1980 to 1987. From 1987 to 1994 he played for Eintracht Frankfurt, but in 1994 he returned to Hamburger SV. One year later, he transferred to Arminia Bielefeld again. He retired during the 1996–97 season. He won the DFB-Pokal (German cup) in 1987 with Hamburger SV and won two German Bundesliga League titles, in 1982 and 1983. Dirk Kurtenbach (born 2 August 1964) is a German former footballer who played as a forward. Kurtenbach started his career at 2. Bundesliga side Fortuna Köln in 1983 before signing for Stuttgarter Kickers three years later. Manfred Kaltz
Manfred Kaltz (born 6 January 1953) is a German former football player and manager, who played as a right-back. Kaltz played in the Bundesliga for Hamburger SV and 13 times (one goal) for FC Mulhouse in Ligue 1 after initially joining Mulhouse league rivals Girondins de Bordeaux 1989. He returned to Hamburg the season after, the consequence of the relegation of FC Mulhouse from Ligue 1 at the end of 1989–90. Previously, Kaltz was forced to leave Hamburg, the club for which he had been a professional since the 1971–72 season, after the authorities (e.g. Erich Ribbeck) had decided not to go on with the contract of the long-serving full-back. Dietmar Beiersdorfer (born 16 November 1963) is a German former football player and coach who works as a director for Hamburger SV. He began a coaching career with Hamburger SV in 2003 and served as sporting director of the Austrian team Red Bull Salzburg between 2010 and April 2011.
