1987 Cameron Aggies Football Team
The 1987 Cameron Aggies football team was an American football team that represented Cameron University and won the national championship during the 1987 NAIA Division I football season. In their fourth season under head coach Brian Naber, the Aggies compiled an 11–2 record. They participated in the NAIA Division I playoffs, defeating (17–12) in the first round, (14–7) in the quarterfinals, (20–10) in the semifinals, and (30–2) in the Championship Bowl. The team's statistical leaders included tailback Robert Whitman, quarterback Levon Davis, wide receiver Ronald Walters, and Chuck Smith. Brian Naber
Brian Naber (born February 7, 1949) is a former American football coach. He served as the head football coach at Doane College from 1981 to 1983 and at Cameron University from 1984 to 1989, compiling a career college football record of 54–40–2. Coaching career Naber was the 30th head football coach at Doane College in Crete, Nebraska and he held that position for three seasons, from 1981 until 1983. His coaching record at Doane was 16–14. Elon () is a town in Alamance County, North Carolina, United States. It is part of the Burlington metropolitan statistical area. The population as of the 2020 census was 11,324. The town of Elon is home to Elon University. Pittsburg is a city in Crawford County, Kansas, United States, located in southeast Kansas near the Missouri state border. It is the most populous city in Crawford County and southeast Kansas. As of the 2020 census, the population of the city was 20,646. It is home of Pittsburg State University. NAIA Football National Championship
The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Football National Championship is decided by a post-season playoff system featuring the best NAIA college football teams in the United States. Under sponsorship of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, the championship game has been played annually since 1956. In 1970, NAIA football was divided into two divisions, Division I and Division II, with a championship game played in each division. In 1997, NAIA football was again consolidated into one division. The 2019 game was played at the Eddie G. Robinson Stadium in Grambling, Louisiana.
