All England Open Badminton Championships
The All England Open Badminton Championships is the world's oldest badminton tournament, held annually in England. With the introduction of the BWF's latest grading system, it was given Super Series status in 2007, upgraded to Super Series Premier status in 2011. The world's first open tournament was held in the English town of Guildford in 1898, the success of which paved the way for the All England's inaugural edition, which was held at London's Horticultural Halls in 1899. Although the inaugural edition consisted of just the doubles format, the singles were introduced from the second edition onward. It was eventually considered – especially after the first Thomas Cup series in 1949 – the unofficial world championship of the sport until 1977, when the International Badminton Federation launched its official championships. Lee Deuk-choon
Lee Deuk-choon (Hangul: 이득춘, born 16 July 1962) is a retired male badminton player from South Korea. In 2013, he became head coach of the Korean National Badminton Team after nearly 20 years as the head coach of the Junior National Team. He replaced Kim Joong-soo, who was the acting head coach following the removal of Sung Han-kook. Lee was replaced as head coach on January 1, 2017 by Kang Kyung-jin. Razif Sidek
Datuk Razif Sidek (born 29 May 1962) is a former badminton player from Malaysia and coach. Personal life He is the second eldest of the famous five Sidek brothers. Razif and his siblings gained exposure about badminton sport from their father, Sidek Abdullah Kamar, Haji Mohd Sidek. Under the guidance of his father, Razif and the rest of his siblings were destined to be Malaysia's champions. In addition, Razif Sidek is one of the alumni of Victoria Institution (batch 1974–1980). Jens Peter Nierhoff (born 2 September 1960) is a retired badminton player of Denmark, noted for his powerful smash, who won a number of international titles in singles and men's doubles during the 1980s. Darren James Hall (born 25 October 1965) is an English retired badminton player who is generally rated as one of the best men's singles players that England has produced and holds the record of 10 National singles titles. Stephen John Baddeley (born 1961) is a retired male badminton player from England who competed from the early 1980s to the early 1990s. Badminton career Baddeley won the English men's singles title in 1982, 1985, and 1987.
