1986–87 Wyoming Cowboys Basketball Team
The 1986–87 Wyoming Cowboys basketball team represented the University of Wyoming in the 1986–87 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. ("Cowboys" is solely used to refer to the university's men's sports; women's teams and athletes are known as "Cowgirls".) The Cowboys, then a member of the Western Athletic Conference, played their home games at the Arena-Auditorium. The Cowboys were led by Fennis Dembo, who led the 1987 NCAA Tournament in scoring by averaging 27.8 points per game. Jim Brandenburg (born December 10, 1935) is an American retired college basketball coach. Fennis Dembo
Fennis Marx Dembo (born January 24, 1966) is a retired American professional basketball player for the 1989 National Basketball Association champion Detroit Pistons. A small forward, he only played in the NBA for one season, averaging 1.2 points and 0.7 rebounds in 31 games. He was selected by the Pistons in the second round (30th overall) of the 1988 NBA draft. College career Dembo was barely recruited out of high school in San Antonio, Texas, but caught a break when he was sought out by Wyoming's then head coach Jim Brandenburg, who had previously been a high school coach in that city (and would later retire to San Antonio). Dembo's campus visit was the first time he had seen snow; he went on a snowmobile trip as part of the visit, and would remember in a 2009 interview that he had a gut feeling that Wyoming was for him. The 1986–87 UNLV Runnin' Rebels basketball team represented the University of Nevada Las Vegas in National Collegiate Athletic Association, NCAA Division I (NCAA), Division I men's college basketball, competition in the 1986–87 NCAA Division I men's basketball season, 1986–87 season under head coach Jerry Tarkanian. Mira Costa High School
Mira Costa High School (MCHS, "Costa") is a four-year public high school located in Manhattan Beach, California that first began operating in 1950. It is the only high school in the Manhattan Beach Unified School District. The school's athletic teams are known as the Mustangs and the school colors are green and gold. Mira Costa is located on the corner of Peck Avenue and Artesia Boulevard. History Groundbreaking for the site of the school took place on May 24, 1949 for the first high school in Manhattan Beach.
