1986–87 England Hockey League Season
The 1986–87 English Hockey League season took place from September 1986 until May 1987. The season culminated in the National Inter League Championship for men which brought together the winners of their respective regions. The Men's championship was won by Slough The Men's Hockey Association Cup was won by Southgate and the Women's Cup (National Club Championship finals) was won by Ealing. Men's England Hockey League
The Men's England Hockey League is a field hockey league organized by England Hockey that features men's teams from England and Wales. Format Regular season There are 62 teams in the league, the top tier consists of a Premier Division of twelve teams. Below this is tier two, which consists of two ten-team Division One regional teams (North and South). The third tier consists of three regional conferences North, West, and East, all consisting of ten teams. The teams play each other home and away during an 18 week season from September to April. The league has a winter break between December and February. The winners of the Premier Division regular season automatically qualify to play in the Euro Hockey League. League Finals Weekend The top four Premier Division teams from the regular season qualify for the League Finals Weekend. Neston Hockey Club is a field hockey club that is based at Parkgate in South Wirral, Cheshire. Founded in 1963 the team became National Champions of England in 1984. England Hockey League Seasons

Sean Kerly
Sean Robin Kerly (born 29 January 1960) is an English former field hockey player. Biography Kerly was born in Whitstable and was educated at Chatham House Grammar School in Ramsgate. He has played club hockey for Canterbury, Southgate and Herne Bay. In 1981, he made his England senior international debut. At the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, he helped Great Britain secure the bronze medal. Kerly scored the winning goal in the bronze medal match in LA against Australia (3-2). The success is attributed as having revived interest in hockey in Britain. Two years later, at the 1986 Men's Hockey World Cup, Britain won the silver medal on home ground in London, with Kerly scoring four goals in the tournament. After scoring a hat-trick against Pakistan in the 1987 Men's Hockey Champions Trophy and eight goals in one game during the 1987 European Club Cup he entered the 1988 Olympics as a well known name in Britain. Stephen Batchelor (field Hockey)
Stephen James "Steve" Batchelor (born 22 June 1961) is an English former field hockey player. International career Batchelor was a gold medal winning Great Britain squad member in the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, setting up Imran Sherwani in the final against West-Germany. Four years earlier he won Bronze at the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles. He also won silver with the England squad at the 1986 Hockey World Cup. John Shaw (field Hockey)
John David Shaw (born 24 April 1962) is an English former field hockey player. Shaw represented Great Britain in the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona and the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. He also won a silver medal with England at the 1986 World Cup. He also won an Olympic gold medal in Seoul. Shaw was born in Taiping, Perak, Malaysia. He is working as a Hockey Coach at Bradfield College, and also coaches at Gerrards Cross Hockey Club. Richard Dodds
Richard David Allan Dodds OBE (born 23 February 1959) is an English former field hockey player. He was captain of the gold medal-winning Great Britain squad in the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul. Four years earlier, he won Bronze at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. He also captained the England squad who won Silver at the 1986 Hockey World Cup. He was awarded the OBE for services to hockey. Dodds was born in the English city of York, and was educated at Kingston Grammar School and at St Catharine's College, Cambridge. He currently works as a consultant orthopaedic surgeon at the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading, England. Dodds has played club hockey for Reading and Southgate hockey clubs. Chigwell is a town and civil parish in the Epping Forest District of Essex, England.
