Pia Nilsson (golfer)
Pia Nilsson (born 8 May 1958) is a Sweden, Swedish professional golfer and coach. She was one of the two players, who were the first female Swedes to play collegiate golf at a University in the United States and the first Swede to captain a European Solheim Cup team. Early years Born in Malmö, Nilsson began playing golf at around 10 years of age, with her family at Torekov Golf Club in another part of Scania in southern Sweden, when they spend their summers there. At 14 years of age, her handicap had gone down to 10. In her golf career, she later also came to represent Ystad Golf Club, Jönköping Golf Club, Ljunghusen Golf Club and Lidingö Golf Club. Amateur career Nilsson first represented Sweden at the European Lady Junior's Team Championship in 1975 and continued to do so five years in a row. Kristianstad Golf Club
Kristianstad Golf Club is a golf club located in Åhus 18 km southeast of Kristianstad in Skåne County, Sweden. It has hosted the European Ladies Amateur Championship and Kristianstad Ladies Open on the Ladies European Tour. History The club was admitted to the Swedish Golf Federation in 1924 as only the 6th club in the country. The first 9-hole course was located at Rinkaby military training ground. It was moved to its current location in Åhus in 1940 and the first 18-hole course, Åhus East, was completed by 1969. The first 9 holes of Åhus West was built in 1980 and its extension to 18 holes was completed in 2006. The Åhus East course saw a major overhaul in 2016 by Pierre Fulke and Adam Mednickson, and Åhus West re-opened with a new layout in 2021. The East course was ranked third best in the country in 2020. Mölle Golf Club
Mölle Golf Club is a golf club located on the Kullen peninsula in Höganäs Municipality, southwestern Sweden. It has hosted the Höganäs Ladies Open on the Ladies European Tour. Location The course, partially overlooking the Öresund strait, is situated inside the Kullaberg nature reserve, on a peninsula protruding into the Kattegat near the town of Mölle. The course sits on top of a ridge in terrain dominated by rocky outcrops and steep cliffs rising from the sea, with an elevation of up to 188 meters. Peggy Conley
Peggy Conley (born 1947) is a retired American professional golfer. Career At just 16, Conley played her way into the championship match of the 1963 U.S. Women's Amateur and lost 2 and 1 to Seattle's Anne Quast. In 1964, she won the U.S. Girls' Junior title after losing the final match the year before, beating Laura MacIvor, 6 and 5. In 1966, she captured the Women's Western Amateur. Conley became the first woman to receive a University of Washington golf scholarship. At 29, she qualified for the LPGA Tour, where she recorded top-10 finishes at the 1978 U.S. Women's Open and the 1979 LPGA Championship. Losing her card after six seasons, she turned to the Ladies European Tour (LET), where she played another half-dozen seasons. She won twice on the LET, the 1984 Ulster Volkswagen Classic and the 1988 Portuguese Ladies Open, and finished runner-up multiple times, including at the 1986 Women's British Open. Karen Lunn
Karen Marie Lunn (born 21 March 1966) is an Australian professional golfer. She turned professional in 1985 and has spent much of her career on the Ladies European Tour, where she has won several tournaments including a Women's British Open title in 1993 (before that tournament was an LPGA major championship). The Aspeboda Ladies Open was a women's professional golf tournament on the Swedish Golf Tour. It was played annually from the inception of the tour in 1986 until 1997. It was always held at the Falun-Borlänge Golf Club in Aspeboda, Sweden. In 1986 the tournament was included on the Ladies European Tour and sometimes referred to as the Borlänge Ladies Open. Ladies European Tour
The Ladies European Tour is a professional golf tour for women which was founded in 1978. It is based at Buckinghamshire Golf Club near London in England. Like many UK-based sports organisations it is a company limited by guarantee, a legal structure which enables it to focus on maximising returns to its members through prize money, rather than on making profits for investors. The tour is run by a Board of Directors and a Players' Council. Most of the players on the tour are European, with members from more than 40 countries internationally.
