The 1986 Speedway World Pairs Championship was the seventeenth FIM Speedway World Pairs Championship. The final took place in Pocking, West Germany. The championship was won by Denmark who beat United States after Run-Off (both 46 points). Bronze medal was won by Czechoslovakia (32 points). The Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM; en, International Motorcycling Federation) is the global governing/sanctioning body of motorcycle racing. It represents 116 national motorcycle federations that are divided into six regional continental unions. There are seven motorcycle-racing disciplines that FIM covers, encompassing 82 world championships as well as hundreds of secondary championships: enduro, trial, circuit racing, motocross and supermoto, cross-country, e-bike, and track racing. FIM is also involved in many non-racing activities that promote the sport, its safety, and support relevant public policy. The FIM is also the first international sporting federation to publish an Environmental Code, in 1994. Armando Castagna
Armando Castagna (born 22 September 1963) is a former Italian international motorcycle speedway rider. He was born in Arzignano, and was a member of the Italy national team and has represented them in several World Team Cup competitions. He is a record 12 times Italian Champion. Career He rode in the United Kingdom for the Ipswich Witches and Oxford Cheetahs but he spent the majority of his career with the Reading Racers where he won the British League title twice. He has ridden in the Speedway Grand Prix series and has reached five Speedway World Championship finals. On 26 July 1997 he won the Continental Final, which formed part of the 1998 Speedway Grand Prix Qualification. He won the Italian National Championship a record twelve times and in 1999, he won the Argentine Championship. Hans Nielsen (speedway Rider)
Hans Hollen Nielsen (born 26 December 1959) is a Danish former professional motorcycle speedway rider. He competed in the Speedway World Championships from 1977 to 1999. Nielsen is notable for winning four Speedway World Championship titles. During his career, he won a total of 22 World Championships, making him arguably the most successful speedway rider of all time. In 2012, Nielsen was named an FIM Legend for his motorcycling achievements. He later managed the Danish national team. Career Nielsen was born in Arentsminde near Brovst, Denmark. He was one of, if not the most successful riders the sport has ever seen. Yngvar Harra (or Ingvar; Proto-Norse ''*Ingu-Hariz''; non, Yngvarr ; d. early 7th century) was the son of Östen and reclaimed the Swedish throne for the House of Yngling after the Swedes had rebelled against Sölvi. Henny Kroeze
Henny Kroeze (born 11 March 1952) is a retired Dutch motorcycle racer who competed in speedway. Kroeze is a ten times Dutch speedway champion. He was also finalist in the Individual Speedway World Championship twice; in 1983 and 1987. Kroeze was the first Dutchmen to reach the final standing of this championship. He was also the first person to ever score the maximum 21 points during a team league match. Henny achieved this on 21 August 1976 when Halifax (the British club he was riding for at the time) beat Birmingham 51 – 27. Frits Koppe
Frits Koppe (born 1 February 1953) is a former motorcycle speedway rider from the Netherlands. Career Koppe came to prominence in 1977 after he became the Dutch champion, when winning the national title. This led to him being signed by the King's Lynn Stars for the 1978 British League season. Despite only spending the one season in the British leagues, Koppe represented the Netherlands national team for 12 years of World Cups from 1975 to 1981 and 1984 to 1986.
