1986 PBA Reinforced Conference
The 1986 Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Reinforced Conference was the first conference of the 1986 PBA season. It started on April 6 and ended on June 17, 1986. The tournament requires two import each per team with both standing 6"3 and below. Format The following format will be observed for the duration of the conference: * Double-round robin eliminations; 10 games per team; Teams are then seeded by basis on win–loss records. * Team with the worst record after the elimination round will be eliminated. * Semifinals will be two round robin affairs with the five remaining teams. Results from the elimination round will be carried over. * The top two teams in the semifinals advance to the best-of-seven finals. PBA On Vintage Sports
The PBA on Vintage Sports was a branding used for presentation of Philippine Basketball Association games produced by Vintage Sports, a sports-oriented media company and was aired on Philippine television networks City2 Television from 1982 to 1984, Maharlika Broadcasting System (later renamed as People's Television Network) from 1985 to 1995, and Intercontinental Broadcasting Corporation from 1996 to 1999. History In 1982, the PBA awarded the broadcast rights of its games to Vintage Enterprises, Inc., a company owned by Carlos "Bobong" Velez and signed a P5.4 million deal with the league. Games were aired on City2 Television, with the second game of a doubleheader aired live and the first game followed afterwards on a delayed basis. Mike Wilson (basketball)
Michael Wilson (born September 15, 1959) is an American former basketball player. He played college basketball for Marquette University from 1978 to 1982. Wilson averaged 10.9 points, 3.8 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 2.3 steals over his 119-game college career. Wilson was captain of the Marquette team in 1980-81 and 1981–82 and he led the team in scoring his senior season with 16.1 points per game. Wilson played in the National Basketball Association. Wilson was drafted in the third round of the 1982 NBA draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers with the 47th overall pick He first played with the Washington Bullets in 1983, played with the Cavaliers in 1984. 1986 Great Taste Coffee Makers Season
The 1986 Great Taste Coffee Makers season was the 12th season of the franchise in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). Transactions Trade Finals stint After failing to win the Grandslam last year, the Great Taste Coffee Makers return to the finals against the Tanduay Rhum Makers in the first conference of the season. Great Taste had the returning Jeff Collins, a former best import awardee who led the CFC ballclub to a title back in 1984, and Michael David Holton (the third import to arrived as Collins' partner after Mike Wilson and Gregory Jones) as their imports going up against the Tanduay pair of Rob Williams and Andre McKoy. The Coffee Makers were the odds-on favorite to win the title due to their championship experience but the Rhum Makers were determined to end a long-drought and gave their franchise its first PBA title. 1986 Ginebra San Miguel Season
The 1986 Ginebra San Miguel season was the eighth season of the franchise in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). Transactions Trade 1st finals stint under Big J (Rivalry with Tanduay) On August 21, Ginebra clinched one of the two finals berth in the All-Filipino Conference with a 91-83 win over Shell Helix. This marks the fourth time the La Toñdena ballclub is playing in the championship series and the first since Robert Jaworski became player-coach of the team in 1985. Stewart Francis Granger (born October 27, 1961) is a Canadian former National Basketball Association (NBA) player and Canadian national team member. Though in his early years Granger grew up in Montreal, his high school years were spent attending and playing basketball at Nazareth Regional High School in Brooklyn, New York, USA. Granger won the New York State high school finals in 1979 playing for NYC-Nazareth. Granger played college basketball at Villanova University, where his career averages were 10.4 points per game and 4.8 assists per game. Dwight Anthony Anderson (December 28, 1960 – September 5, 2020) was an American professional basketball player. College career Born in Dayton, Ohio, Anderson graduated from Roth High School in Dayton. He played for the University of Kentucky 1978–1980, scoring 13 PPG on 50FG%. The Shell Turbo Chargers were a Philippine Basketball Association team from 1985 to 2005. It won four PBA championships, two from 1998 to 1999. Shell sold its franchise to PBL team Welcoat Dragons, Welcoat Paints in February 2006. The Manila Beer Brewmasters were a professional basketball team in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) from 1984-1986. It was formed after Basic Holdings, Inc., a company controlled by Lucio Tan, acquired the PBA franchise of Delta Motor Corporation, owner of league pioneer Toyota. The team was named after the brands of Asia Brewery, Inc., another Tan company - Beer Hausen (1984) and Manila Beer (1985-1986). Beer Hausen intended to make Ramon Fernandez its franchise player with Jaworski relegated in the background. It acquired seven players from the Toyota team.
