The 1986 PBA Open Conference Finals was the best-of-7 series basketball championship of the 1986 PBA Open Conference, and the conclusion of the conference playoffs. Ginebra San Miguel and Manila Beer Brewmasters played for the 35th championship contested by the league. Ginebra San Miguel won their first championship since joining the league in 1979 with a 4–1 series victory over Manila Beer Brewmasters. Barangay Ginebra San Miguel
The Barangay Ginebra San Miguel is a professional basketball team in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). The most popular team in the league, it is owned by Ginebra San Miguel, Inc. (formerly, La Tondeña Distillers, Inc.), a subsidiary of the San Miguel Corporation (SMC). The team is one of three PBA ball clubs currently owned by the SMC group of companies, along with the Magnolia Hotshots and the San Miguel Beermen. Barangay Ginebra is one of three teams with 14 PBA championships—second-most in league history behind San Miguel's 28 titles—the other being the Magnolia Hotshots and the now-defunct Alaska Aces. Harold A. Keeling (born September 18, 1963) is an American-born Venezuelan former professional basketball player who briefly played for the Dallas Mavericks in the National Basketball Association (NBA) in the mid-1980s. Norman Augustus Black (born November 12, 1957) is an American former professional basketball player who played in the CBA, NBA, and PBA. He's the current head coach for the Meralco Bolts. Jose J. Cantada, better known as "Smokin'" Joe Cantada, (March 15, 1942 – March 22, 1992) was a Filipino TV host, anchor & commentator. He died of lung cancer in March 1992. He distinguished himself with his smooth baritone voice and his flawless use of figures of speech and idioms in calling sports events. Together with Pinggoy Pengson, Cantada was a senior anchorman for the '' Vintage Sports''' PBA coverage in the 1980s. He was previously a boxing and cycling commentator.
