Circuit Paul Ricard
The Circuit Paul Ricard () is a French motorsport race track built in 1969 at Le Castellet, Var, near Marseille, with finance from pastis magnate Paul Ricard. Ricard wanted to experience the challenge of building a racetrack. The circuit has hosted the FIA Formula One French Grand Prix intermittently from to , and every year from to as well as from to . History First years (1970–1990) Opened on 19 April 1970, the circuit's innovative facilities made it one of the safest motor racing circuits in the world at the time of its opening. Ron Haslam
Ronald Haslam (born 22 June 1956) is an English former Grand Prix motorcycle road racer who had been racing for over thirty years, winning two World titles, four British championships and having ridden in almost 110 GPs. Haslam spends much of his time helping his son Leon Haslam in his racing career and previously trained riders and racers alike at his former Race School based at Donington racetrack, Leicestershire. Starting out One of ten siblings from Langley Mill, near the Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire boundary, Haslam started racing in 1972 on a 750cc Norton Commando. At Cadwell Park he finished seventh and eighth in wet and slippery conditions. He raced at handful of meetings in 1972 and 1973. Joan Garriga
Joan Garriga Vilaresau (29 March 1963 – 27 August 2015) was a Spanish Grand Prix motorcycle road racer. He was known for his aggressive riding style. Together with Sito Pons, he helped to forge the path for Spanish riders in the World Championship’s premier class. Garriga had his best year in 1988, when he won three races and finished second in the 250cc world championship to Pons. In 1990, he moved up to the 500cc class but failed to repeat his successes in the 250 class. He also competed in the Superbike World Championship in 1993. In 1998, Garriga was arrested for drug trafficking and possessing illegal weapons, and ultimately sentenced to two years' imprisonment, suspended. Court-obtained medical records showed that he had been regularly taking drugs during his motorcycle-racing career. Garriga died due to injuries suffered in a motorcycle road accident in August 2015. Simon Buckmaster
Simon Buckmaster (born 15 January 1961) is a British former professional Grand Prix motorcycle racer. He participated in 50 Grands Prix races between 1984 and 1992. His best season was in 1989 when he finished 12th in the Championship. Career Buckmaster made his first Grand Prix appearance at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone in 1983, but failed to qualify. He returned in 1984 and successfully qualified for the race. Buckmaster became a Grand Prix regular in 1985. Riding a privateer Suzuki he made five starts but scored no championship points. In 1986 Buckmaster switched to Honda and competed in all of the races. His best finish was 15th place at the Dutch TT. Buckmaster continued to ride a Honda in 1987 season, starting in 12 races but failing to score any points. Buckmaster had a career-best season in 1989 when he finished 12th in the Championship. Mile Pajic (born 29 December 1955) is a Dutch former professional motorcycle racer. He raced in Grand Prix racing between 1984 and 1986, scoring six championship points. Career Pajic made his first Grand Prix start at the 500cc British Grand Prix at Silverstone in 1984. In 1985 Pajic made three Grand Prix start and scored his first points with an eight place finish at the Dutch TT. He finished a career-high 17th in the championship that year. Pajic made nine Grand Prix starts in 1986 and matched his previous best finish of eight at the Belgian Grand Prix in Spa. Boet van Dulmen (; 19 May 1948 – 16 September 2021) was a Dutch Grand Prix motorcycle road racer. Together with Wil Hartog and Jack Middelburg, he was part of a contingent of Dutch riders who competed at the highest levels of Grand Prix racing in the late 1970s. Van Dulmen was known for his skill of riding in wet weather. In 1979, he won his only 500cc race at the Finnish Grand Prix.
