The Australian Professional Championship was a professional snooker tournament which was open only for Australian or Australian-based players. Paddy Morgan
Paddy Morgan (born 7 January 1943) is an Australian former professional snooker and English billiards player. He was born in Belfast, and moved to Coventry in 1960. Following an amateur career in which he won junior and national titles in both sports, and reached the semi-finals of the 1968 World Amateur Snooker Championship, he emigrated to Australia in 1969. He became a professional player in 1970 and competed in the World Snooker Championship for the first time in the 1971 tournament. In 1972, he was runner-up to Leslie Driffield in the World Open Billiards Championship, which featured both amateurs and professionals competing against each other, losing the final 2,404–3,055. In snooker, he defeated Dennis Taylor and Alex Higgins to reach the semi-finals of the 1976 World Professional Match-play Championship. Robby Foldvari (born 2 June 1960) is an Australian player of snooker, English billiards and pool. He is a multi-year World Billiards Champion (1986, 1997, 1998), and a national-level champion in both snooker (2006, 2008) and nine-ball pool (2012), as well as a World Games competitor (2013). Glen Wilkinson (born 4 July 1959) is an Australian professional snooker player from Miranda, New South Wales who is currently ranked the number ten snooker player in Australia. He is also a National Director of Coaching for snooker in Australia. Career In 1983 Wilkinson got the highest break (105) in the Australian Open Championship in Gosford, New South Wales and the following year he went on to win the Open in Perth, Western Australia at the age of 25, again having the highest break of the tournament with 101. Ian Anderson (snooker Player)
Ian Anderson (born 2 April 1946) is an Australian former professional snooker player. He is the current president of the World Pool-Billiard Association. Career Anderson turned professional in 1973, playing his first World Championship match against Perrie Mans of South Africa in 1974; Anderson held Mans to 1–1, but Mans pulled away to win 8–1. The following year, he was eliminated 4–15 in the last 16 by Rex Williams, and in 1976, he lost 5–8 to Jackie Rea. Eddie Charlton
Edward Francis Charlton, (31 October 1929 – 8 November 2004) was an Australian professional snooker and English billiards player. He remains the only player to have been world championship runner-up in both snooker and billiards without winning either title. He later became a successful marketer of sporting goods launching a popular brand of billiard room equipment bearing his name. Early life Charlton was born in Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia and came from a sporting family.
