1985 Speedway World Pairs Championship
The 1985 Speedway World Pairs Championship was the sixteenth FIM Speedway World Pairs Championship. The final took place in Rybnik, Poland. The championship was won by Denmark (29 points) who they beat England (27 pts) and United States (22 pts). The 1985 World Pairs Final was the last World Championship Final appearance of legendary New Zealand rider Ivan Mauger. In a career lasting almost 30 years, Mauger had won 15 World Championships, including a record 6 Individual World Championships, 4 World Team Cups, 3 Long Track World Championships and 2 World Pairs Championships. The Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM; en, International Motorcycling Federation) is the global governing/sanctioning body of motorcycle racing. It represents 116 national motorcycle federations that are divided into six regional continental unions. There are seven motorcycle-racing disciplines that FIM covers, encompassing 82 world championships as well as hundreds of secondary championships: enduro, trial, circuit racing, motocross and supermoto, cross-country, e-bike, and track racing. Henny Kroeze
Henny Kroeze (born 11 March 1952) is a retired Dutch motorcycle racer who competed in speedway. Kroeze is a ten times Dutch speedway champion. He was also finalist in the Individual Speedway World Championship twice; in 1983 and 1987. Kroeze was the first Dutchmen to reach the final standing of this championship. He was also the first person to ever score the maximum 21 points during a team league match. Henny achieved this on 21 August 1976 when Halifax (the British club he was riding for at the time) beat Birmingham 51 – 27.
