1985 NSL Cup
The 1985 NSL Cup was the ninth edition of the NSL Cup, which was the main national association football single-elimination tournament, knockout cup competition in Australia. The competition was known as the Philips Cup under a sponsorship arrangement with Dutch company Philips. Adamstown Rosebud FC, Newcastle Rosebud United were the defending champions, having defeated Melbourne Knights FC, Melbourne Croatia to win their first title in the previous year's 1984 NSL Cup final, final, but they were eliminated in the semi-finals by eventual winners Sydney Olympic FC, Sydney Olympic. Sydney Olympic defeated Preston Lions FC, Preston Makedonia 2–1 in the 1985 NSL Cup final, final to win their second NSL Cup title. Sydney Olympic FC
Sydney Olympic Football Club is an Australian semi-professional soccer club, based in Belmore, Sydney, New South Wales, that plays in the National Premier Leagues NSW. The Club was founded as Pan-Hellenic Soccer Club in 1957 by Greek immigrants.
