1985 NAIA World Series
The 1985 NAIA World Series was the 29th annual NAIA World Series, tournament hosted by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics to determine the national champion of college baseball, baseball among its member colleges and universities in the United States and Canada. The tournament was played at Harris Field in Lewiston, Idaho. Hometown team and defending champions Lewis–Clark State Warriors baseball, Lewis–Clark State (51–20) defeated Dallas Baptist Patriots baseball, Dallas Baptist (56–24) in a single-game championship series, 10–6, to win the Warriors' second NAIA World Series. Double Elimination
A double-elimination tournament is a type of elimination tournament competition in which a participant ceases to be eligible to win the tournament's championship upon having lost ''two'' games or matches. It stands in contrast to a single-elimination tournament, in which only ''one'' defeat results in elimination. One method of arranging a double-elimination tournament is to break the competitors into two sets of brackets, the ''winners' bracket'' and ''losers' bracket'' (''W'' and ''L'' brackets for short; also referred to as ''championship bracket'' and ''elimination bracket'', ''upper bracket'' and ''lower bracket'', or ''main bracket'' and ''repechage'') after the first round. 1985 NCAA Division III Baseball Tournament
The 1985 NCAA Division III baseball tournament was played at the end of the 1985 NCAA Division III baseball season to determine the tenth national champion of college baseball at the NCAA Division III level. The tournament concluded with six teams competing at Marietta College#Athletics, Pioneer Park in Marietta, Ohio, for the championship. Six regional tournaments were held to determine the participants in the World Series.
