1984–85 OJHL Season
The 1984–85 OJHL season is the 13th season of the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL). The eight teams of the league played a 48-game season. The all eight teams made the playoffs. The winner of the OJHL playoffs, the Orillia Travelways, were already hosting the 1985 Centennial Cup and were therefore exempted from the Buckland Cup/Dudley Hewitt Cup series against the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League champion. Instead, the league finalists, the Aurora Tigers were granted the option of playing for the OHA and Central Canadian Championship. Both the Tigers and Travelways ended up at the Centennial Cup, which the Travelways won. Ontario Provincial Junior A Hockey League (1972-1987)
The Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) is a Junior A ice hockey league in Ontario, Canada. It is under the supervision of the Ontario Hockey Association (OHA) and the Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL). The league was listed as the 7th best developmental league in North America for professional and amateur ice hockey in July 2013 by the website, "TheHockeyWriters.com". The league dates back to 1954 where it began as the "Central Junior B Hockey League". In 1993, the Central Junior B Hockey League was promoted to the Junior A level and renamed the "Ontario Provincial Junior A Hockey League". In 2009, the league was dissolved by the Ontario Hockey Association and split into two leagues: the "Central Canadian Hockey League" and the "Ontario Junior A Hockey League". By early 2010, the two leagues merged to reform the Ontario Junior Hockey League. North York Rangers
The North York Rangers are a Junior "A" ice hockey team located in the North York district of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. They are a part of the South Division of the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) and were previously a part of the Metro Junior A Hockey League. History The Metro Junior "B" level Woodbridge Rangers moved to North York in 1967, renaming the team the North York Rangers. They advanced to the "A" league until 1972, winning several league titles before folding in 1985. When the Richmond Hill Rams Metro Junior "A" team moved to North York in 1992, they brought back the North York Rangers name. Seven seasons later, the league folded, and the North York Rangers were brought into the OJHL, where they continue to play as of 2017. New York Rangers
The New York Rangers are a professional ice hockey team based in the New York City borough of Manhattan. They compete in the National Hockey League (NHL) as a member of the Metropolitan Division in the Eastern Conference. 1985 NHL Entry Draft
The 1985 NHL Entry Draft was the 23rd NHL Entry Draft. It was the first draft outside Montreal. The event was held at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre in Toronto, Ontario, and attended by 7,000 fans. The National Hockey League (NHL) teams selected 252 players eligible for entry into professional ranks, in the reverse order of the 1984–85 NHL season and playoff standings. Scott Anthony Kerr (born 11 December 1981) is an English former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Kerr played a solitary game in the Premier League for Bradford City during the 2000–01 season, although notably he spent time in the Football League and was captain of Lincoln City over a six-year spell. Penticton Knights
The Penticton Vees are a junior "A" ice hockey team from Penticton, British Columbia, Canada. They are a part of the British Columbia Hockey League. The junior Vees were founded in 1961, sharing the name of the senior hockey team, the Penticton Vees. History The Junior Vees were one of the inaugural teams in the Okanagan-Mainline Junior A Hockey League (OMJHL), launched in 1961. The league became the British Columbia Junior Hockey League (BCJHL) in 1967. BCJHL
The British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) is a Junior A ice hockey league from British Columbia under Hockey Canada and BC Hockey. Founded in Vernon in 1961, the BCHL now includes 18 teams. From 1993 to 2021, the league was a member of the Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL), an association of Junior A leagues across Canada that would play for the National Junior A Championship. The winner of the BCHL playoffs (Fred Page Cup) would continue on to play the Alberta Junior Hockey League champion in the Doyle Cup for the right to then compete in the National Junior A Championship.
