Music Of Norway
Much has been learned about early music in Norway from physical artifacts found during archaeological digs. These include instruments such as the lur. Viking and medieval sagas also describe musical activity, as do the accounts of priests and pilgrims from all over Europe coming to visit St Olaf's grave in Trondheim. In the later part of the 19th century, Norway experienced economic growth leading to greater industrialization and urbanization. More music was made in the cities, and opera performances and symphony concerts were considered to be of high standards. In this era both prominent composers (like Edvard Grieg and Johan Svendsen) and performers combined the European traditions with Norwegian tones. The import of music and musicians for dance and entertainment grew, and this continued in the 20th century, even more so when gramophone records and radio became common. Kunnskapsforlaget
Kunnskapsforlaget () is a Norwegian publishing company based in Oslo. Kunnskapsforlaget was established in 1975, as a partnership between H. Aschehoug & Co. (W. Nygaard) and Gyldendal Norsk Forlag. The purpose was to co-operate on publishing encyclopaedias and dictionaries. The first volume of Store norske leksikon (SNL) was published in 1978. A total of four editions was published (the last one in 2004), before the online version was transferred to Institusjonen Fritt Ord og Sparebankstiftelsen DnB in 2011. Kunnskapsforlaget is the largest dictionary publisher in Norway. They publish both printed books, and digital dictionaries that are available through the online service Ordnett (launched in 2004). Their main languages are English and Norwegian, but they also have dictionaries in 21 other languages. In September 2018, Gyldendal Norsk Forlag became the single owner of the company. Ina Christine Wroldsen (born 29 May 1984), previously known simply as Ina, is a Norwegian singer and songwriter. She was a part of the electropop duo Ask Embla with Icelandic producer and songwriter Arnthor Birgisson. Career Wroldsen's career started solely as a recording artist, but soon turned to writing music for others. As a songwriter, she has had great success and is internationally considered one of the most sought after in her field. Marion Raven
Marion Elise Ravn (born 25 May 1984), better known abroad as Marion Raven, is a Norwegian singer and songwriter. Raven formed the pop duo M2M with Marit Larsen, though they ceased performing together in 2002. Raven was later signed as a solo artist by Atlantic Records with the release of her solo debut album, '' Here I Am'' in 2005. In 2006, Raven was signed to the indie record label, Eleven Seven, and in 2007 re-released the songs on her debut album along with a few new songs on an album titled '' Set Me Free''. In 2012, Raven began production of her second album, '' Songs from a Blackbird'', which was released in Norway on 8 April 2013. Raven has also written tracks for other artists such as Pixie Lott. Andrea Rydin Berge
Andrea Rydin Berge (born 26 April 1984 in Oslo, Norway) is a Norwegian jazz musician (vocals, piano and autoharp), composer and band leader, known from her own Andrea Kvintett. Career Berge has a background from music studies at the University of Oslo and Complete Vocal Institute while the other quintet members, Svein Magnus Furu (tenor saxophone and clarinet), Harald Lassen (tenor saxophone), Kim-Erik Pedersen (alto and baritone saxophones) and Christian Meaas Svendsen (upright bass), have experience from the Norwegian Academy of Music. All belong to the "young and very promising" generation that is starting to pave their way into the established, professional Norwegian jazz scene with big steps. The arrangements is by Berge and the band, and since she is also co-producer, there is not much doubt about who is the driving force in the band. Steinar Aadnekvam (born 4 April 1984) is a Norwegian jazz guitarist. Life and career Aadnekvam was born on 4 April 1984 in Bergen. After completing his upper secondary education at Södra Latin, he studied at the Royal College of Music, Stockholm. He has also studied at the Vrindaban Gurukul school with Indian classical flutist Hariprasad Chaurasia. In 2009, Aadnekvam was nominated for the 'Young Nordic Guitarist Award' by the Uppsala International Guitar Festival, and was a 2010 finalist at the 'Norsk JazzIntro' at Moldejazz. He released his debut album ''Simple Things'' (2010) later the same year. The album received critical acclaim from reviewers across multiple countries, and was followed by two collaboration albums ''Abacaxeiro'' (2011) and ''Ecology'' (2014). Mari Kvien Brunvoll (born 20 February 1984 in Molde, Norway) is a Norwegian folk and jazz singer who has over the past few years attracted attention at festivals internationally with her solo concept, where the voice is complemented by small electronic and acoustic instruments in a sound inspired by jazz, pop and folk music. She is the daughter of Lawyer Knut Anker Brunvoll (b. 1945) and jazz singer and pianist Inger Johanne Brunvoll (born Kvien in 1945), and the younger sister of songwriter, guitarist and vocalist Ane Brun (b. 1976) and photographer Bjørn Brunvoll (b. 1973). Trond Bersu
Trond Bersu (born 4 January 1984 in Skjåk, Norway) is a Norwegian drummer and producer. Career During his music studies on the Jazz program at the Trondheim musikkonservatorium Bersu started the band PELbO together with fellow students Ine Hoem and Kristoffer Lo. Their self titled debut album was nominated for the 2010 Open class Spellemannprisen. The second album release was ''Days Of Transcendence'' (2011). In Trondheim he also collaborated with another fellow student Ingrid Helene Håvik and later on when established in Oslo, they started the band Highasakite together.
