The 1984 Hall of Fame Classic was the eighth edition of the Hall of Fame Classic. The game featured the Kentucky Wildcats of the Southeastern Conference and the Wisconsin Badgers of the Big Ten Conference. Wisconsin (7-3-1 entering the game, 5-3-1 in the Big Ten) was ranked #20 in the AP poll prior to the game. Kentucky (8-3, 3-3 SEC) had been ranked as high as #16 in the AP poll during the season but was unranked entering the game. Dave McClain (American Football)
Dave McClain (January 28, 1938 – April 28, 1986) was an American football player and coach. He served as the head coach at Ball State University from 1971 to 1977 and at the University of Wisconsin–Madison from 1978 to 1985, compiling a career college football record of 92–67–6. Playing career A native of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, McClain was a 1956 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School and a 1960 graduate of Bowling Green State University, where he played both quarterback and safety. Joe "Joker" Phillips Jr. (born May 12, 1963) is an American football coach and former player. He is the assistant head football coach and wide receivers coach at North Carolina State University, a position he had held since the 2021 season. Phillips served as the head football coach at the University of Kentucky from 2010 to 2012. Mark Deyon Higgs (born April 11, 1966 in Owensboro, Kentucky) is a former American football running back in the National Football League for the Dallas Cowboys, Miami Dolphins, Philadelphia Eagles and Arizona Cardinals. He was drafted in the 8th round of the 1988 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys. He played college football at the University of Kentucky. Marc Anthony Logan (born May 9, 1965) is a former American football running back that played NCAA D1-A before playing in the NFL. Marc weighs in at 6'0, 228 lbs. Marc attended the University of Kentucky in college wearing the number 25.
