1983 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly Election
The 1983 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly election was held in January 1983 for all 294 constituencies in Andhra Pradesh. The elections were conducted to elect the government in the state of Andhra Pradesh for the following five years. The TDP secured a huge majority winning 202 seats. The Indian National Congress secured only 60 seats. The election was held in January 1983 instead of August 1983 as scheduled. N. T. Rama Rao was sworn in as the 10th and the first non-Congress Chief Minister of the state on 9 January 1983 with ten cabinet ministers and five ministers of State. The Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly or Andhra Pradesh Śāsana Sabha is the lower house of the Andhra Pradesh Legislature. The Legislative Assembly consists of 175 members which are elected by adult universal suffrage under the first-past-the-post system. The duration of the Assembly is five years from the date appointed for its first meeting, unless it is decided to dissolve the Assembly sooner. Kinjarapu Yerran Naidu (23 February 1957 – 2 November 2012) was an Indian politician. Early life Yerran Naidu was born on 23 February 1957, in a farmer's family in Nimmada, a remote village in the Srikakulam district of north coastal Andhra. He has a brother, Kinjarapu Atchannaidu, who is also a politician. He has a son Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu, who is also a politician.
