The 1983 Tour de Suisse was the 47th edition of the Tour de Suisse cycle race and was held from 14 June to 24 June 1983. The race started in Seuzach and finished in Zürich. Sean Kelly (cyclist)
John James 'Sean' Kelly (born 24 May 1956) is an Irish former professional road bicycle racer, one of the most successful road cyclists of the 1980s, and one of the finest Classics riders of all time. From becoming a professional in 1977 until his retirement in 1994, he won 193 professional races, including nine Monument Classics, Paris–Nice a record seven years consecutively and the first UCI Road World Cup in 1989. Kelly won one Grand Tour, the 1988 Vuelta a España, and four green jerseys in the Tour de France. He achieved multiple victories in the Giro di Lombardia, Milan–San Remo, Paris–Roubaix and Liège–Bastogne–Liège, as well as three runners-up placings in the only Monument he failed to win, the Tour of Flanders. Sem–France Loire
The Sem–Loire France cycling team was a French professional cycling team that existed for four years from 1980 to 1983. Although a small team, directeur sportif Jean de Gribaldy directed the team to success in various classic races and in stage races such as Paris–Nice and the Tour de France as well as the French championships. History The team formed under directeur sportif Jean de Gribaldy when he took the French section of the successful Belgian team after Flandria withdrew sponsorship. De Gribaldy took Portuguese rider Joaquim Agostinho with him as team leader of his new team. With several sponsors, de Gribaldy formed a French team called Puch–Sem–Campagnolo. Beat Breu
Beat Breu (born 23 October 1957, in St. Gallen) is a Swiss former road bicycle racer. In 1982 Tour de France he won the prestigious stage on Alpe d'Huez, as well as another mountain stage finishing in Saint-Lary-Soulan, and finished sixth overall. He also won Tour de Suisse two times and a stage in 1981 Giro d'Italia. In later life in 2019 he fulfilled his childhood dream of having his own circus. In 2022 the National Museum of Switzerland made a miniature model of Breu's stage win up Alpe d'Huez in 1982. Paul Wellens (cyclist)
Paul Wellens (born 27 June 1952 in Hasselt) was a Belgian professional road bicycle racer. Cycling career In 1978, he won the combativity award in the Tour de France. He won two individual tour stages during his career: in 1977 he won stage 15a to Morzine in a solo breakaway, leading alone over the summit of the Col du Corbier and crossing the finish line with a three-minute lead over the peloton, and the following year he won the stage to Super Besse. He was also part of the TI–Raleigh squads which took a team time trial win in the 1978 Tour, two further TTT victories the next year and another two in the 1980 edition of the race. Jostein Wilmann
Jostein Wilmann (born 15 July 1953) is a Norwegian former professional road racing cyclist. His best performance came in the Tour de France of 1980, where he finished 14th overall. This is still the best result any Norwegian cyclist has achieved in the Tour de France general classification. He is also the only Norwegian cyclist to win the Tour de Romandie and the Setmana Catalana de Ciclisme, taking both victories in 1982. He is the father of racing cyclist Frederik Wilmann.
